High Creatinine 133 ??

Hi everyone,my mum is 74.

She's diabetic type 2.Also suffers from angina pectoris.Hypothyroidism.Feet neuropathy,exessesive sweating.

She uses a lot of medications,for diabet she uses Metformin 800 mg (twice daily) and DIABOS 5 mg (once in the morning)

For heart aspirin Protect 100 mg (once)

Trimetacor 35 mg ( twice)

Diloxol (clopidogrel) 75 mg,

Spironolactone 25 mg,

For hypothyroidism letrox 100 mcg.

Before bed she uses sleep pills Zolpidem 10 mg and, Perindopril 4 mg also magnezium with b6.

And some supplements: Vit c 1000 mg

B -complex with Acid alpha lipoic

Osteofit for bones (calcium magnesium zink and d3+k2)

Folic acid with b12 800 mcg

Cod liver oil 1000mg

Also she had e.coli in urine was treated with antibiotics,but now she uses Origano oiL (capsule) for infection. Exssesive sweating especially on head and face, fast breathing rate,low blood pressure,normal pulse.

Lab test: creatinine 133 and sedimentation 60.Can you tell me please is there any medication that is causing high creatinine??

Hello Lizpuhiza, You have posted a very medical specific question for our members. Perhaps talking to a pharmacist and giving them a detailed list of medications that Mum is taking would be a good idea. Please remembering to include any over the counter remedies that she is using too. They would be in an ideal position to answer this question for you.

Your poor Mum does have a lot going on with her health, and we appreciate that this time is very worrying for you.

Creatinine 133.8 (44.00-97.00)

UREA 5.622 (2.400-7.200)

8-10 leukocytes,1-3 erithrocytes

E.COLI in urine: 100.000 colonies in 1ml urine.

Also positive test on H.PYLORI in blood;

3.37 >1.0

She used a lot of antibiotics,but it seems e.coli is very resistant,any advice??

Medications (all) have some influence on kidney performance. Some negligible some impactful. As a minor example you are told to avoid aspirin if you have "CKD" or kidney problems. Other Kidney doctors will say a low dose is a good thing. Since most patients with end stage renal disease actually do not die from kidney failure, but rather from cardio vascular problems because of poor performing kidneys. And aspirin is good for preventing cardio vascular problems. So if a person is in good health except for the CKD, the aspirin could be not necessary and even harmful. For a person with cardio problems the need for aspirin far outweighs the risk of effect on kidney. In short, we are ALL different. So there is no blanket answer. You doctor(s) who know you mother, know all her medical problems, have to make the decisions. You could take each of your mothers medications and go to Google. Type in for example "100mg aspirin and CKD". You will find websites that yell at you to stop it. Others that say it is fine. Same for each of your mothers medications. As someone suggested, review the list with your pharmacist. Sit with your mothers doctor(s) and ask are all these medications really still necessary. My own cardiologist has a belief and direction that he wants me off as many medications as possible. That sometimes over the years we start a med, but through habit, just continue with it and never stop it, even it if is no longer needed. He has reduced some of my medications over the past 2 years GREATLY. Some totally. Some by 75% each (dosage). He will reduce the amount of one by 50%. If the next round of testing shows no change, he moves on to the next. etc. For example. I was once taking 20mg of lisinopril twice a day. I now take 10mg of lisinopril once a day. My amlodipine has been reduced from 5mg once a day to 2.5 mg once a day. My blood pressure is actually better at the lower amounts than it was at the full amounts. And my energy level is better than ever. Talk to your doctors. Be forceful.
