I’ve been having heart palpitations for a while now...ER thinks it may be kidneys due to creatinine levels. Have to do more testing. So far EKG comes back normal. I get heart palpitations with dizziness. Haven’t passed out yet but have felt like I was going to. Any advice?

Are you on any medication? Sometimes blood pressure medications can cause these effects too. Please check with your nephrologists. Prayers and best wishes.

I am CKD level 3 and had similar symptoms, and made appointment with my GP and after testing got proper treatment. Everyone is different and what 1 person on CKD experiences may not be same diagnosis.

What sort of treatment were you given orange city41.am having occasional palpitations and thought it may be high creatinine s as I have no dizziness etc.thank you

I was put on a renal diet and prescribed exercise.

I am 77 years old and diagnosed at level 3 CKD with other bloodwork indicators of kidney disease. Per my Doctor, the regimen has slowed down progression according to blood tests.

If you receive any warning that a dizzy spell is forthcoming and you are at home immediately sit down or better still lie down. This, of course, will not stop a dizzy spell but you will avoid a possible nasty injury. Hoping that eventually all will be well.

I did have the palpitations and some dizziness for about a year before I was diagnosed. Since diagnosis and changes to my diet and fluid levels, I have been much better.

This is the first time I have heard of the effect of creatinine on causing palpitations. I think actually it causes irregular heartbeat, but this is same feeling. Called "AFIB" there are medications to "calm" the heart. In addition to seeing a kidney doctor and gp, I also see a cardiologist. Even thought I have been lucky and not had heart problem due to CKD stage 3. My gp put it this way. Most people when they reach final stage CKD (hopefully far away) actually pass away due to cardio problems. He felt it does not make sense to go to a kidney doctor only, to deal with your heart. Go to a heart doctor, who are all well versed in CKD also. So I see kidney, heart and gp doctors. I'd advise this for you. And once again, do not fall into the trap many due. Everything that goes on with your body, for the rest of your life is not necessarily due to CKD. Even without CKD you might have developed this AFIB. Millions do. And if you did not have CKD where would you have gone? To a cardiologist, not a kidney doctor. Do so.

I developed CKD due to a high protein slimming diet.also have a duplex kidney and slightly raised BP.i came off amlodopine due to swollen ankles and various side effects so home monitoring my BP.also have auto immune smooth muscle antibodies but these are low so is not causing auto immune hepatitis .i have had 5 attacks of very irregular pulse rate which only happens through the night.the last episode a few weeks ago raised my BP really high and my bloods showed my creatinine s were higher and my EFGR had gone to 56. My gp originally said the erratic pulse was due to the amlodopine but as it is discontinued that can’t be the reason.i did have a heart monitor on last year after an attack and nothing showed up.i was interested when you said you were seeing a heart doctor.do you think high creatinine can cause erratic pulse rate or have you been treat for atrial fibrillation.its all very scary when the erratic pulse rate occurs and your doctor dismisses .thank you
