My Situation so far...

I am 34.

I had a spot urine check in China two weeks ago. It showed that I got 3+ protein leak, 1+ blood leak, and some "red" and "white" blood cells (though in the normal range).

Then, I went for a blood check. It showed my Creatinine at 86 umol/L, which translate to a eGFR of 94. But, my blood sugar is through the roof, also my blood acidity....

I had a doctor's appointment last Friday, he wants an overall examination of my urine and blood, which I will have the results next week. If things remain like those a couple of weeks ago, he said he will refer me to a nephrologist.

My habits aren't the best. I drink a lot of coke/pepsi. My BP is in 130/95 range. I hope things are okay.

Try not to worry and wait to hear more from the doctor. A 94 is a good gfr for the kidneys. The protein and blood in your urine is what the will be addressing, as well as lowering you BP and blood sugar. Take it easy and work on eating and drinking better, until your doctors visit. Good luck and let us know what the doctor has to say.

Thanks! I hope things are okay...3+ protein leak is pretty serious.

Hi Samuel!

I agree with itzmich..

Your GFR and kidney functions are excellent. See your doctor and have further labs, urological or other tests completed to account for the proteinuria and hematuria.

Make a list of questions and take them with you as well as a notebook to write down answers and visit discussion.

In the meantime, eat sensibly..

Sodium between

1,500 -2,0 00omg daily. No red meat, processed foods such as bacon, cold cuts etc.

Keep an eye on the dairy as

Low sodium, protein, potassium and phosphorus are key.

Increase your water and try to avoid the soda..at least until your doctor tells you otherwise.

Lots of fresh or fresh frozen vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbages, red peppers, onions, zucchini and yellow squash. Eggplant, green beans and asparagus as well.Spinach and broccoli are higher in potassium but eaten in moderation.

Strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, apples are great.

Eggs and egg whites are good..a vegetable omelet is great in the morning with white or light wheat toast.

Cream of wheat is high in iron and also good..

Just some ideas.

Hopefully your doctor will have some good suggestions.

Please post again and let us know how you are doing..you are cared about.

Thanks! My diet wasn't great in the past. I drank too much pop, and I love high salty food. I am changing right now. Pretty hard.

Hi Samuel,

One day at a time. It will be easier than you think.

Breakfast..buy light wheat bread. I eat it on the run with Benechol spread which has helped my cholesterol.

Salads are great..lots of onions, peppers and cukes..

Again, light wheat bread no cold cuts..but egg salad, you can improvise.

Fish or chicken are fine...broil or bake. I love hummus and eat it with my salads even for dinner.

If I don't have oil and vinegar, I don't touch any dressing with more than 120 mg of salt.

I love veggie rolls in rice paper; lettuce, carrots and kale..Veggie spring rolls no soy sauce.

Mexican, I eat grilled veggies no salt...

Veggies ..roast in olive oil with spices, steam..

Low sodium products.

NKF has a great guide for eating out..google NKF dining out with confidence.

Here is their link:

kidney.org/atoz/content/din...

As far as the salty snack food..substitute..Potatoes are high in potassium, but the company: Wise...offers a chip which has no salt..O..

Yellow bag Wise unsalted.

modify everything.

Drink more water.. even add a splash of lemon juice.

If you are presently drinking 4 bottles of soda..cut down..

It will all work out..

Feel free to reach out again as I would be happy to speak to you as well as other members of the community.

It will all be good..

Hope to hear from you!

Positive thoughts...

Hi Kikoman,

Good to hear from you!

As far as foods that will increase your creatinine level, I would check with your doctor or a dietician to be sure.

As far as I know, eggplant is fine ..as far as chilli- I know that tomatoes are high in phosphorus and mayonnaise- watch the sodium.

I found a recipe for Firehouse Chilli on the Davita site, they provide many kidney- friendly recipes as well as another nutrition link from NKF which are below. Take a look..

davita.com/diet-nutrition/r...

kidney.org/nutrition/Kidney...

Eating kidney-friendly , drinking water and some exercise is a key to keeping your creatinine level normal.

Remember, I am not a dietician, but I try to eat healthily.

Hope this helps!

Looking forward to hearing back from you!

Bet:)
