Well I have been officially told that I DO NOT have any type of kidney issues whatsoever! To make a long story short, I had blood work done 3 months ago that showed a eGFR of 64. I was devastated at the time but my doctors assured me everything was likely fine and not to worry. My creatinine at the time was 1.3. They said we'll have to repeat the test again in 3 months to confirm a ckd diagnoses. Well, 9/14/18 was exactly three months and I went and had the test repeated at the hospital outpatatent service thing. I had a doctors appointment later that evening for just a check up and was shocked to learn they had already received the results! I was expecting it to be several days. So I sat there shaking and scared while the doc brought up my file on his computer. And the results were completely normal!! Well, for me at least. I had a creatinine level of 1.1 with aeGFR of 79. I said that still sounds kinda low. He said absolutely not. He said that was 100% normal and most of his patients young and old hover around 80 with just a few above 90. So he said no worries, no follow ups, no special diet, no kidney disease. And here's the best part! When I got home I had an email that showed my test results. They had ALL my blood work on it for the last 20 years!!! I didn't know they could gather info from so far back! Compunet was the name of the lab. Anyways, best part is, I never should have been worried in the first place! My creatinine levels have been all over the place since I was 29 years old! And I certainly have had a terrible diet of beer, bacon and burgers my whole life lol. Point is, if your eGFR remains fairly stable your likely completely normal even if your eGFR is on the low side. Here's my creatinine readings over the years. I don't include eGFR cause on about half of them it just says above 60 = normal and don't list an actual GFR.

Oh My !! You are to young to worry so. I am 77 and my GFR is 38. I lost my kidney to bladder cancer that spread. So, CKD. Just want you to quit worrying so. You are just to young for that. (My history is dealing with 5 different cancer, Afib, and CKD). However, I feel great now. I exercise, walk, kayak ride bike. If this old lady can do it So can you !! Enjoy Quit worrying. Thursday Night is Wing and beer night. Have fun !!
PS My friend, GFR is 9, just went on Dialysis. She was a 9 for over 2 years before they put her on dialysis.
Thanks gramma! I'm almost 50, so not too young anymore!! Good luck with you condition. With a eGFR of 38 sounds like your doing pretty good considering your age!
Oh wow that's amazing Cruze I'd be well happy if can get mine into the 70s but even with it being 10 points lower I am grateful I am now aware and have better understanding of the importance of living a healthy life.
Is you urine super foamy or bubbly?? Cause I've had extremely bubbly urine my entire life. And everyone I've asked also reports they have the same. And with my now normal eGFR that assures me my bubbly urine is completely normal. I asked my docs about that and they confirmed that bubbly is perfectly normal. One from the Cleveland Clinic told me that when foamy urine is due to kidney issues the pee is REAL foamy. Like 2 or 3 flushes to get it all down. And when it occurs the patient know that something is not right.
Its bubbly most of the time but can look a little foamy at times but always flushes away...... thanks for mentioning yours and other people's are bubbly....that reassures me somewhat.
Also, I was gonna say this to maybe put a few folks at ease. My skin is often very itchy! Doc all told me this is certainly not kidney disease. They said even if I do have mild kidney disease it would not cause itching. They explained how itching is due to lack of blah blah and it would show up in blood work. And mine was completely normal. But in the back of mind I still felt my itching was due to kidney disease. But fast forward to now, with a normal eGFR of about 80 and I guess the doctors were right all along. Cause I still itch and do not have any kidney disease. They all told me the same thing. Itching is super super common and affects everyone and is almost always caused by dry skin, lack of hydration, foods we eat, change in body temperature and so on. So for those "near" normal folks who are worried about your itching you are probably itching just because...well, people itch. And not kidney disease at all.
