Home urine test kit

Anyone ever use a kidney disease home test kit? Supposedly they use the same dipstick procedures as they do in the doctors office. Over 90% accurate. I have one here but i'm afraid to use it lol. My gfr is 65 according to blood results. Which is considered normal I guess unless you have some other signs like protein in your urine. I might just throw this thing in the trash and run with my eGFR of 65 and forget about this whole thing!

Well I did it!! Was very nervous. Results were all normal I guess. The protein negative line was very close in color to the "trace"color. So it was either negative or a trace. But i'm about 90% sure it was negative. Creatinine and specific gravity were also normal.

Word of caution if anyone goes online and buys one of these. Make sure you read the results section carefully. For creatinine and the specific gravity results the higher numbers are better. My stick immediately changed to the last color on the chart which of course I thought was bad. Beings that protein read in the opposite direction. But in fact, they was normal. So in other words ya want the protein number low, the other two numbers higher. Caused me about ten minutes of panic until I read the directions once again.

I've used those dip sticks and been comforted not to find much to worry about. I did it first when l found out about my kidneys, then again some weeks later when l had changed my diet and the results were better the second time round. I'm sure they are accurate enough, but as you say, you have to follow the instructions exactly.

Could you give a link to these dipsticks For kidneys? I have never heard of one that measures Creatinine and would buy some.

Above is the one I bought. Check Amazon though. I got mine cheaper then 10 dollars. Wanna say mine was like 7 dollars. It measures Creatinine, protein, and specific gravity.
