Hello Thirza, I feel very sorry for you being unable to feel better since last February, it is a very long time to be in this position. You talk about going to Accident and Emergency in your post, so I guess you are in the UK? If so, maybe you could talk to your pharmacist at your local chemist, they would know about your dose of stetiod (I have never heard of this and have no idea what it is used for), it could be that the dosage is now too low to be effective - a drop from 8 to 1 seems very dramatic!

If you have only to wait until next Thursday (this is Tuesday evening) you are lucky in having the opportunity to get some help on this very soon. Be sure to write down all your symptoms and tell him about your depressive feelings, also about the stetiod dose and is it suitable for you, and point out that you have been feeling dreadful since February - don't be afraid to speak out about how you feel (I always write down what I want to say to doctors as it always saves time, makes sure I don't forget anything I consider important, and makes them realise I am genuinely worried and will act on their help and advice). Hope I've helped a bit, best wishes Curleytop1.

Thank you

For your reply I have had to come down slowly from 8 to 7 to 6 and so on

Just feel like there isn't a light at the end of the tunnel

And yes I am in the UK

All I really want to know is

Is this what happens all the time at stage 3 and is there a long term solution

Hello again Thirza1, The best advice I can give is that you should look through some of the many questions and replies regarding stage 3 CK , they are all over this Forum. From these you can see that some people do experience some symptoms, but there are many who do not, including me most of the time, just occasionally tingling in my toes especially on the left!. Also had a bout of gout (a build up of uric acid after only a 4 day holiday in York where I was suddenly eating much more meat and other protein than in my usual diet - it went away after 10 days and has not returned. Good luck, hopefully your depression will lift when you get some positive help and advice on what to do from your Consultant (though my experience was that I saw only his Registrar, as I know I am not considered 'high priority') - Curleytop1. P.S. Please let us know how you get on as it will be interesting for us all to compare with our experiences!

Thirza

Everyone is different, but I have heard complains about breathlessness at stage 3 before. I'm new here, with stage 3 also. But I assure you, this is a helpful place to ask questions.

Hope you get the answers you need soon. Looking forward to hearing about your progress.

Hi Thirza, I noticed myself getting breathless and without energy too about five years ago....I went to my doctor and he ran a lot of tests. My Blood pressure was high 145/95 and he was reluctant to put me on meds for it....I wondered why. Then last December I did a private blood test and the Kidney function came up....finally I found out that I was CKD4!!!! And there's nothing I could do. Since then I've been reading up on it, started to drink more water and began a coarse of herbal meds....and my egfr has gone from 22 to 26. So try to be positive and take help and solace from the very helpful folks on this site, good luck!

Just have to share this from a personal friend which is very encouraging to me: " My husband Gary's kidney disease went from stage 3 to normal in 6 months by going mostly vegetarian. He has type 2 diabetes which makes it more difficult. But there is a long list of foods recommended for people with kidney disease." Everyone is different but Gary is middle aged, late 50's, non smoker, if that helps. Makes me want to cook some mustard greens :) Hope you have a productive day.
