We are going to be making changes to the Dyslexia Action website over the next few months and we are aware that sometimes, even with the best will in the world, websites can end up looking like they have been designed for the organisations that made them rather than the people that use it them. I would really like your help in ensuring that what we end up with, is something that you want and need.

Firstly, I would appreciate your thoughts on our current site. What do you like and what do you find frustrating? What would you change or improve? We know it's is not perfect, so feel free to be honest!

Secondly, what would you want from our new site? What would you like to see more of or what would you like that isn't already there?

If you haven't visited the site recently here is the link: dyslexiaaction.org.uk

Really looking forward to your thoughts!

Just a quick answer, I would like you to test your website under a variety of web browers, such as firefox and internet explorer. Some information on using the access tools (which are provided at the top of the page) would be useful, I couldn't seem to get the read aloud to work (I use firefox). Also some quick design templates with ready made backgrounds/font colour etc would be useful as I tend to dip quickly into websites for particular information and don't have time to design my own each time. Can the default background be off white/cream? Hope this is helpful.

Well first of all you need to have a tab for guardians including

-Parent Partnership, KIDS in England. Parents need to know their local KiDS parent partnership will help them when it comes to negotiating with their school. KIDS also have a website with great information.

-Parents need to know how to access The SEN Toolkit and The Codes of Practice and what they are.

-As a parent I not only would like to know about where my dyslexia action centre is but I can have a free consultation with the principle.

-Parents need to know they can access burseries if they cannot afford the fees.

-On e-mailing Dyslexia Action I do not want to always put the centre my children attend, as this at times feels like naming and shaming.

-I would like a list of charities that can help me with funding with my child with specific learning needs. One charity would be listening books.

-Courses for parents. Why was I the only parent on the LOAD to LEARN workshop that I attended, where were the children with dyslexia.

I think you should have a tab for the young people.

-In particular I think Dyslexia action should form a young persons committee from all different areas of the UK. Talk to clappa and changing faces who do this successfully.

-Apart from academically I do not think you are reaching young people, or parents, for a matter of fact. As long as pay my fees I think Dyslexia Action are happy.. and yet you could do so much more. Your web site does lean towards professionals, with exception, of their teaching experience, I think I could equal them in their knowledge about dyslexia.

I think you should have a tab identifying where

-study skills courses are for children, especially those in year 9.

-the typing courses

-mind mapping

-how to get an IT assessment.

-dragon software, read and right gold, anything else that happens to be of use.

Maybe you should divide your website site into sections

- North East, North West, Central, etc. I get a bit fed up that the only study skills course I could find was in the BATH, NOTTINGHAM AND SURREY. A poor show. What is happening in each reason.

I would like to see Welfare Advisors being employed by Dyslexia Action.

The blogging is very academic. I love dyslexia action health unblocked (name wrong) I think you should be investing in parents and young people to become mentors. It would have been useful to e-mail a parent for support. Look at scope and they train mentors. Parent Champions is just an appalling way to treat parents.

Dyslexia Action is definitely not reaching professionals in schools and you are not getting through to schools.

Anyway that is from me.

Thank you both so much for your feedback, some great ideas! Dyslexia-tutor we have had issues with our web company and getting the read aloud to work, at the moment the only way to get the website to talk is at the bottom where is says "this website talks", hoping to get this sorted soon!!

Hello - lots of great information on there. I do find the homepage rather 'busy' though and visually confusing - I don't like the pictures that appear and disappear - I've got scotopic sensitivity which probably accounts for that!
