Question on Diabetes/Non-Diabetes Hyperglycemia

Hi. I have a quick question for the community...

What's the difference between non-Diabetic Hyperglycemia and pre-Diabetes?

I think the last blood test that tells your levels over the last three months was 46 (sorry, can't remember measurement maybe mmol) but the one that is on the cusp of being in the Diabetes bracket.

So what makes it non-Diabetic?

link to an explanation of the HbA1c testdiabetes.co.uk/hba1c-test.html

It looks at a protein in the blood that indicates how well blood sugars have been controlled over a period of months

Hyperglycemia means raised blood sugars. Diabetes is a condition which makes it difficult to regulate and lower blood sugar levels, leading to hyperglycemia if you take in a lot of dietary sugars as the process that removes those sugars from your 'sugar distribution system' (your blood) stops working properly. In terms of effects on the body there isn't any difference between hyperglycaemia caused by diabetic and non-diabetic factors - just that the causal mechanism is different and not going to be continual as it is in diabetic hyperglycaemia.
