Please call your doctor's office and see if they can do an A1c before you're scheduled appointment so you can have the results in the office the day of the appointment-- or sooner. :-)

No point as they will only retest if glucose above 48. Thanks for your concern but my A1c has been 42*45 for the last 14 years and as I have no probs. it doesn't bother me! no need to panic. Hope you ok.

I’m doing okay. I got to the receiver today before it could alarm this morning before I went to get breakfast. Other than that, I’m feeling good.😀👍

More diet than exercise. Blood tests every 6 to 12 months. Will be home testing soon.

Did you get a testing kit for home from your doctor at the last appointment?

Insulin injections x3, Abasalgar x1 at bedtime, metformin 1mg x2 daily, blood/glucose monitoring x4 daily.

HB1AC every 6 months at surgery

Exercise - going for at least 30 mins walk minimum 2x daily (have to be careful with exercise as I have brittle asthma & on oxygen 24/7 )

Diet - try to eat sensibly, love salads & jacket potatoes, no longer keen on meat.

Monitor sugar with glucometer, Lantus insulin 17u+medicine, +45min walk daily and control diet. Somehow manage to maintain hba1c between 6.5 -7. 5.

This is good! Keep up the good work!😀👍

Just keto/low-carb diet does it for me. I get loads of exercise, walking, golf (on a mountain course!). I have always done the exercise but that did not stop me going diabetic, the diet did or the combination.

How long have you been on the keto diet?

in reply to Activity2004

About 2 years. First six months my bloods improved very slightly, next six months improved a lot, then stabilised at a normal level. I was pre-diabetic, now nowhere near it which is amazing really. I wasn't that overweight, 14st 7lbs, now stable at around 11.11.

That’s great news. Did your doctor say to do the Keto diet?

in reply to Activity2004

Yes, my doc put me on the diet after being diagnosed pre-diabetic, I'd never heard of it or considered anything like this. Since then they have confirmed over 80% success rate (an estimate I assume) with this way of eating.

Sorry for the delay in replying. That was great news that the keto diet was able to help you.

I'm a brittle type 1, so I have to be extremely careful with what I have to cut out/eat less of. I learned that with more protein and less carbs., I have better blood sugars during the day, personally. :-)

Sorry had no idea jacket potatoes had that much sugar in them. In hospital (for chest infections, icu/ward) have always been told to take carbs & then told potatoes were best but not that keen on them

Sorry, forgot to ask is eating pasta a better idea to take carbohydrates? I like it in any form & maybe have a jacket potato once a week

Thank you. Given me something to wake my brain up & start working for once (due to ill health gave up work in 2006 though not quite a vegetable yet!).
