Not enough research has been done into the understanding of the CRTC2 switch gene.
Take extra insulin.
I'd also take more insulin and try not to do too much, exercise would be the last thing I'd do.
I am type 2 diabetes. My blood sugars were far too high and I was put on drugs. The drugs upset me. I managed to get my sugars down, by cutting out wheat rice maize, barley and rye, eggs, yoghurt, cows milk andss oft cheeses which contain lactase. I use lactase free milk, and have found oats, lower blood sugar as well as cholesterol. I only use certain tonic waters, and some squashes with no added sugar. I found out that certain fruit such as strawberries are lower in fructose than others. I eat potato crisps, and potato chips. I try and eat normally eating fish and chicken, and meat with green vegetables rather than peas sweet corn, fibrous beans. I use carrot and beetroot in salads and eat avocados, and tomatoes and cucumber and salads. I don't drink tea or coffee as they contain tannins which can affect the blood lowering iron in the blood. They are like eating smoked food, or smoking a cigarette.
www nutritionistresource.org has an article written by Claire Hargreaves leading nutrition expert explaining why a daily cuppa can affect the blood with tannins.
I take Gliclazide and I have doubled mine at teatime as it was always high in the 20s. even a cup of tea would raise it by 10 points.. I drink tomato juice when I get a thirst on.. lol lol
4 or 5 coffees and 3or 4 teas a day normal behaviour. My levels stay around 14-16 (taking 4 metformin and 2 x16 glucose a day.
