I have read somewhere that lack of Vitamin D can cause sleep apnea and possibly other sleep disruptions. This can be one of the causes.

Diabetics are usualy D vitamin deficient. Many doctors recommend checking Vitamin D level and supplement with something around 1000 IU especially around winter or those living in high latitudes.

The rule of thumb goes, Vitamin D production on the skin does not take place if the shadow is longer than ones height.

Other sleep disturbances can be caused by irregular sleeping times. Stress, anxiety and worries.
