This is a life span disease. The disease does progress under the best of care. Be good if others would describe the feelings one gets when new complications first start. I have this disease for 35 years and I have high blood pressure, COPD, Colits, Sleep Apnea,PAD(I build up plaque in my legs). Recently I am getting a leather feeling in my feet soul when I lie down (sometimes). My AIC's run high 7's. I finally have one my battle with my BMI and stop smoking 15 years ago. Getting operations seem to be my hobby, 71 to date. I do exercise. I guess my food choice and volume is not the best all the time. I can talk myself into thinking that a good pastrami sandwich is A-Okay. Wish I knew what harm I was doing to myself back when I was 34.

I've been diabetic since I was a 2 week old infant. I am 36 years old and work all the time. I try very hard to get the A1c down. It doesn't always work, but I try the same.

Ian sure there are success stories with type one & two . Success meaning living and are well into their 80's. Wish they would write in on their thoughts. I wonder in the brain has something to do with it. Meaning part of the disease is degrees of self destruction.

The bottom line of questions (at the moment) with a nil response must be "saying something"

I don't seem to be able to do any more, or differently. It's ok saying take a holiday when the patient has no money. The annual review seems more of a waste of time each year. Same questions, same answers. Same lecture. Surely after 10 years of it not going away all I need is the test results and informed of the need if any to change treatment.

It appears we want a larger group for support reach out to your friends you know that have this, and people in the doctors office talk to them about this chat group- Tell them HealthUnlocked search it on the web. The administrator can better direct you in this matter. I personally would love to see the site expand and this one for sure she is very informative.

I'm working on the issue right now! It may take some time, but the group will get larger.

Been Type 1 for 43 years on injections, went on pump in Sept 2015. Minimum complications but I get scared of damage Diabetes is doing to my body, it's hard to handle with 2 jobs, 2 kids (18 and 25), 2 cats and hubby who is in poor health. My hba1c is currently too high at 90 but I can't seem to find time to look after me so much.
