Question is vague

Agree the question is very vague! I'm T2 on metformin and diet control, due next HbA1c in 4 weeks, back in Dec I was 6.1. I rarely test, only if I'm unwell, or in the week before my blood test is due just to see how things are! If I test more often I get obsessive and its totally unnecessary for me and other in control T2s.

Pointless question without a timeframe. I'm Type2 diet controlled and won't take the poisonous products of Big Pharma. I've reduced my levels from 7.5 to 5.5 over the course of a year purely by eating a low carb high fat diet. The one recommended by the medics and NICE is terrible advice to the point of being scandalous but closely tied into the unhealthy liaison with the drug peddlars of the pharmaceutical industry. Get on the Paleo diet and eat like your caveman ancestors did, before the food processors, Agri farmers and chemists controlled our lives.

Warwickstag, I'm glad you have got your blood-glucose levels, weight and diet under control. That's great and the Paleo diet clearly works for you. However Type 2 Diabetes isn't a one size fits all. Type 2 Diabetes can occur for many reasons, not just lifestyle. My mum and brother both have Type 2 Diabetes. They eat a healthy diet and don't have an ounce of fat on them. In their case it's genetic and they can't do anything about it. If they ate a Paleo diet they would waste away. For them a different approach is needed, including tablets to help their pancreases make their insulin release and uptake more efficient. Type 2 Diabetes is also an ageing related and progressive condition. Just because you control yours by diet now doesn't mean you won't need tablets or insulin years down the line. Those evil drug pushing pedlars might just save your life one day.

Exactly right! Not everyone IS THE SAME.

PS Purely for reassurance I test myself once a month at the same time of day and my readings vary very little, and happily I'm drug free (at least as far as the diabetes is concerned).

The question is how many times do you test the blood sugars per day? Sorry if it was a little confusing.
