No fear of ordinary needles or injections.

I have found that actually watching as needles are inserted to find a vein or vaccinate means that any little pain is minimal - any anticipation anxiety is reduced. I know this is not for everyone - my late husband couldn't look and needed to be at least seated for injections and it was safer if he was horizontal!

Also I had angioplasty procedure and watched as much as I could.

I had T.B. in the early 1950's and was hospitalised for 18 months which was then being treated as pin cushions, then went through surgery having a lobectomy causing my phobia.then this yeaR WHILE HAVING BLOOD TAKEN I HAD A SECOND STROKE,,which made my fear even worse..

Best wishes and Happy new year.

Knowing that you have this phobia, how do you deal with it when you are in that situation? Is it just (!) when it is about to happen to you or do you also react to pictures of needles?

And may 2018 be good to you.

No - I am fine from that point of view but was interested because about ten years ago I was working in the NHS in an administrative role and we were promoting infant vaccinations. We (not just me on my own) produced a small poster and sent it to a PALS office for some reason. The PALS officer who opened the email got back to me with a complaint that the poster included a picture of the administration of vaccination and this had really upset her because of her phobia. That's the reason why I asked about whether pictures also upset you, not just your own need to endure blood drawing or flu jabs or whatever.

Glad you have found your own solution.
