Not that I'm any more of an expert than anyone else here but I say GO and have the wonderful time you deserve after what you've been through. I do understand the tears as our brains just don't know if they're coming or going any more. Give Minnie my love

Sorry about the holiday I donotnot fancy flying. Try not to be anxious it will not help but make sure you have insurance and believe you are going to be ok. The power of positive thinking. Wwe have swapped flying for cruising. Much better thantv orogrammes would have you think. They also have a doctor on board go and enjoy your holiday. We can't let these things hold us back. Keep on fighting. And taking the tablets. All the best and have a great time. Good luck. I am sure you will be fine. Keep smiling.

We may not be the same as "real people" here on the Web, but do feel free to offload here as we are "here for you" as much as we can be and we do have similar experiences so it's not just somebody saying "there there honey, it'll all work out in the end"

feeling pretty crap today myself :-(

H i#beaniepam, Tearfulness is NOT any kind of sign of weakness and and you should never feel you have to apologise for it.you're best to let it out rather than exhaust yourself struggling to keep it bottled up. Do talk to your doctor about getting some talking therapy - I find it helps to say things I wouldn't have dreamed I was capable of saying to someone completely non - judgemental there's stuff I stillreally would not say to familyas, with the best will in the world they would never understand. You could always try Mind at mind.org.uk/ they can be a huge help

Hi I had a stroke Meningjitis puemoccial, a stroke and a brain absess on 16th may this year and went to turkey on 23rd July for 2 weeks ,my doctor gave me a letter to say was ok to fly he said it would do me good only thing he was bothered about was I had lost my hearing due to Meningjitis he was worried might affect me but didn't,I didn't have as much energy as I would normally have had but had a great time so I would say go and enjoy yourself, as for crying I'm still doing that burst into tears for nothing xx

Hi

Have you tried Headway too ? They offer all sorts of practical and emotional help...

I had my cvst in Oct 2014 - and was fit to fly in December if I wanted to - but as I hadn't planned anything I waited until May and enjoyed 10 days with some girls in Portugal.

Since then I have travelled for two weeks to South Africa in Dec last year and earlier this year spent a month travelling on trans Siberian rail/ in China - an experience I had to plan a long time for but glad I did it . Next stop India....

Personally not going to let this beat me / my plans to see the world - but does take some planning ( including rest days) and both big trips on my own have almost been cancelled due to fear - but have got on the plane both times ......

One of my mottoes is " Just do it" ....... what's the worst that could happen ?? Yeah we know That one - but that has already happened and May well not happen again - could hide under the covers just in case it does - or prepare and get out there ... I have a good medical ID wristband and "if" anything happens again at least I can say I travelled a little inbetween.

Hope some of that is inspiration .....

Good luck

K

Thanks #moo196 and yes, it is an inspiration - I intend returning to Cuba later this year an am working hard with my physios to get me up to real swimming strength, I had my second rehab driving lesson to day. It's a tad clunky but I'm getting there;-)all the best to you all
