Advice from family members of dialysis He

Hello,

I have a question for anyone with a family or is a family member of a dialysis patient.

My girlfriend and I are thinking about getting married, and she is a kidney transplant recipient. At the moment, there is good functionality and our lives are fantastic.

Before we tie the knot she has advised me to speak to a few families that are living with dialysis for when the time comes that her kidney fails.. hopefully a long time from now. This is so that I can go into life together with my eyes open.

Any experiences or stories (good and bad) would be really appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Dialysis is a big deal. I've been doing it for 5 years now. To me its like having a job. You HAVE to go. You can't call in sick, so no matter how rotten you feel, you have to find a way to drag yourself to your dialysis clinic. But I get ahead of myself. There are other forms of dialysis ........A couple of at home options, that might work for her. It will depend on what her health is like if that time comes. She will need your support, & her support system of family & friends. It's a tough thing to have to do.
