I do not remember when but probably must have been a year back when I started myself to consume on fenugreek seeds. Till today I take this infrequently whenever I see my BS on the higher side which is ofcourse as a result of consuming a high glycemic diet. I got this information online and also offline from my mother who tends to update herself on such matters from the social media and also from the knowledge passed on from her forefathers. As I heard, the dosage to take is around 1 to 2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds, which is available in loose packs or branded ones, does not make a difference I guess. I wash them 2 to 3 times in tap water to clear out any impurities, then boil some water in a glass in my microwave for about 30 secs, put some of the seeds in my mouth and swallow whole with some of that water, and gradually until I am done with the whole quantity. This I have tried either early morning on an empty stomach, or few mins before a high glycemic meal, right after a high glycemic meal, or few mins before goin to bed etc. To be frank, I have not got any negative results but most of the time my BS went down under 130 from higher levels. Sometimes the BS level stayed the same. Recently I have read some posts saying that one should not consume too much of fenugreek especially in powder form, and I can’t comment on the authenticity of that information but I feel that it depends on our body conditions. Not all of us are the same, so it’s ok to try this in safe limits and keep monitoring how our body responds. Surely it’s a more safer remedy than putting ourselves at risk of complications and side effects from medications. I hope this information helps those wondering on the effects of taking fenugreek. But most importantly, watch your diet at the same time that you try such new remedies and keep note of your BS levels. Please share your results so that all of us can be reassured that such remedies are in fact helpful rather than rely on false information.

I have used powder, the problem is like cooking smell!!!. The powder get into the blood stream very quickly and when you sweet the strong smell comes out. Just like cooking Methi, I do not cook Methi at home as the cooking smell hangs on for few days because of UK cold conditions at the moment.
All I do is soak it in water, drink the water and east the soft seeds and it works for me. There are many other Asian species you can take.

Do not take fenugreek while pregnant because it may affect uterine contractions.
Fenugreek may act like estrogen in the body and be unsafe for women with hormone-sensitive cancers.
Side effects of fenugreek may include diarrhea; a maple-like smell to urine, breast milk, and perspiration; and a worsening of asthma.
There’s little information on the risks of taking fenugreek while breastfeeding.
Fenugreek should not be used in place of conventional medical care or to delay seeking care if you have health problems. This is particularly true if you have diabetes.
