HELP -- FRUITS AND VEGGIES

Hello Friends -- one more question. Need help -

Since cutting down on rice and wheat - ( Type 2 --23 years)

What do you recommend - TOP 5 or 7 Fruits and vegetables to eat -

in much more quantity to fill full - which has low carbs --but more nutritional values.

I like -- Banana, Kiwi, papaya, Pears, Peach, Strawberry

Eggplant, spinach, green squash, cauliflower, potato, sweet potato

As an Indian - usually we cook too much -- will that loose nutritional values ?

Just some thoughts....

Blueberries, strawberries, mango, apple. ( you can bake with a touch of spice, water and sweet and low brown sugar as well)

Banana is high in potassium.

Veggies: cabbage, kale, spinach, eggplant onion, pepper, cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini squash.

I eat lettuce and cucumber as well.

I make kale salad with cucumber, chick peas and wasabi dressing.

Add veggies to curries.

Potatoes are fine.

My Indian restaurant uses yellow rice which is boiled and specially prepared. Less carbs ( ask about it)

What about nutritional values ? and if cooked --what effect ?

I found many good posts - 2 or 3 years old-and have saved in special folder

will change my diet completely - with less rice and less wheat. will see for six months.

of course --it will be LCHF principal- 50 % fat, 25 % protein and 25 % carb

Mango ?? low carb ?

Good afternoon to you, my friend.

Generally early riser as I get up with my husband.

Snowed a bit here last night so was chilly and check email then. Lol.

I buy fresh or fresh frozen vegetables. I generally cook them in a bit of water in the microwave. Sometimes we just eat them as is. Often we have hummus with them.

I have also roasted them in the oven at high heat. I use non stick spray and add onion, garlic powders, sometimes turmeric.

I use mango sparingly as it is not always available here.

Hopefully the adjustment to the rice and wheat will help. You know the key is balance.

I read labels and chose those items with low sodium and carbs.

My brother switched to low salt potato chips if that helps. I eat Wise no salt.

I read an article about spaghetti squash which you might want to Google.

NO Microwave - avoid as much as possible. Use stove top burners to cook -

JAPAN HAS BANNED - MANUFACTURING OF MICRO WAVES.

Add some garlic -raw not powder --

I avoid - buying any thing - Processed in bottles or cans - so do NOT need to read labels. No salt added in cooking - NO sgar added

Just get raw veggies - fresh and cook in water -- and add spices -- some times sated onions before adding water and vegetables. I also add Ghee or butter.

My A1C was 9.2 - last week. I went to India and many times forgot to take insulin and ate sweets. Will take six months to get back to normal - below 7.0
