Empagliflozin, sold under the trade name Jardiance among others, is a medication used together with diet and exercise to treat type 2 diabetes. It is less preferred than metformin and sulfonylureas. It may be used together with other medications such as metformin or insulin.

Empagliflozin belongs to a class of drugs called SGLT2 selective inhibitor. This the latest type 2 diabetic drug US FDA approved..

It is the only drug invented so far which clears the excess Sugar from the Blood through the urine route. The kidney allows the excess Sugar to pass through the urine..

The trial report indicates that this is the only diabetic drug (apart from Metformin) does not carry CV risk in DM.. Helps weight reduction...

Jardiance is a very helpful medicine to control blood sugar and maintain healthy heart. I have been taking this medicine since February 2017. At that time I had on insulin at 30/24 dose . After three months my sugar level became lowering and then add reclide xr 60. After another three months my insulin had been put off. From June 2017 my hba1c till today 6.1 to 6.4. Now I am talking half tab of reclide xr 60 and half jardiance 25. But my sugar level at 60 to 85 seeing this my doctor stopped reclide xr 60 and I am taking only half of jardiance 25.
