Hi everyone,

This has come up in the past and it is worth remembering that these herbs and spices have blood sugar lowering properties as it's easy to add herbs and spices to our food.

If plants can help manage diabetes, then that's a very good thing.

Adalakkai. Very tasty and good for diabetics. Google it for picture. By the way if you want to include some rice in ur diet you can do it with karupukavuni rice. I find it better than kattuyanam rice

Buck wheat pancaake 6. Dal idli 7. Bamboo rice pongal all the above batter mixed with methi or drumstick leaves. All accompany with Sambhar or chutney. Lunch pulses /rajma/chick peas with lots of veggies. Night two samba roti. If u have any other option kindly share

mistidahi ,

Thanks a lot for the various option provided. I have LCHF food, typically boiled peanuts, coconut or paneer for my breakfast. Emmer/Samba wheat whole boiled (apprx 50-60g) with usual Sambar/Rasam and vegetables along with at least 3-4 spoons of Ghee and 2 medium size chapati for dinner with usual subzis like paneer, rajma, etc. If i feel hungry in the evening, then i either have cashew nuts or emmer wheat chiwda.

What type of Ghee do you use?

sandybrown ,

I buy unsalted butter (brand: Nandini, Karnataka Milk Federation). We then heat it up to convert into Ghee. I tried buying Ghee from Nandini initially. But did not like the taste.

I agree with you mistidahi . I have only full-fat unpasteurized/raw desi indian cow milk daily. But Organic A2 ghee/butter is too expensive.

Ok. Are you doing any variations in ur diet or same diet 7 days a week

mistidahi ,

There may be a slight variation for dinner. Once in a week or 10 days, i have atta noodles or durum wheat pasta. Both of these do not increase my blood sugar. Once in a month or so, i have some deep fried stuff like bajji, cutlet, etc. Apart from these deviations, its more or less the same.

Coconut is an important healthy food for diabetics. Please start incorporating the same into your diet daily.

I read in a research paper that both bhajra or kambu and thinai/fox tail millet reduces sugar levels. WHAT is ur opinion on this

mistidahi ,

Kambu or Thinai can be tried for sure. I'm not a fan of siru dhanyam/millets. So, have not tried much.
