Use of wheat for a long time increases sugar levels?

I am 63 yrs old and Diabetic since 15 years. I have been using wheat chapatis after diagnosed as Type 2 Diabetic almost every day replacing rice since 7-8 years. But, I am told that use of wheat for many years may lead to rise in sugar levels. I am not a Gluten sensitive person. Please clarify.

Are you able to provide your blood test numbers?

Usually, my FBS and PPBS will be 120 and 140 respectively. And my recent HbA1C was 7.00.

Have you seen any changes in your blood test numbers because you are eating wheat products?

Yes. Little improvement noticed. Sugar levels decreased by 10-15 readings - both FBS and PPBS.

Both rice and wheat have a medium glycemic index value,but the problem with them is that they are consumed in refined form and hence low in fiber and many essential nutrients.They may not cause diabetes as such,particularly when combined with high fiber,low glycemic foods.To manage your nutrition better,try to become knowledgeable about glycemic index and glycemic load.That will help you to make right food choices.You BS numbers are not bad but you can do better.

The long term problem is that the small intestine is unable to properly digest gluten, a protein that's found in grains. Our body doesn't follow 2+2=4,it is not that straight.

Eat anything you like but in moderation + exercise+ medicine.

Main aim should be weight loss.

Aim 1200 call a day for weight loss.

Above all STRESS MANAGEMENT.

I think for many people using wheat over a long period of time causes many problems. The gluten is the problem as with other grains - glu - the clue is in the name - it sticks to the inside of the intestines and destroys the villi leading to less absorption and hence any health problems that are likely for that particular person. Since I gave up gluten my gut has been so much better along with bad symptoms.

This is mimic from Western ,world.,wheat is far better than white rice.

Do this for better sugar contoll,take 5kg of whole wheat grainflour, mix 1.5 kg of black gram powder and 500gm of plain oats.

Make chapati out of this your bs will not spike.

This is based on my several years of experience.
