Zitamet plus is a combo drug of metformin and Teneligliptin. Metformin is good old drug.

But Teneligliptin is the newest class of Gliptin or DPP4 inhibitor to be introduced in India this year 2018. So there would hardly be any experience. It is also approved in Japan, Korea and Argentina. Not yet approved in USA and Europe. So far as I know US FDA not yet cleared the drug Teneligliptin. In fact Vildagliptin is also not cleared by USFDA.

The other 3 Gliptins which are in use in India are Vildagliptin, SitaGliptin, saxagliptin.

Gliptins in general while effective in reducing Blood sugar, but could have side effects. You may like to read my post on DPP4 inhibitor.

It is better to minimise medication and try to control T2 by diet and exercise which many people are practising.
