There is no one-size-fits-all approach. No diet will suit all. Therefore, we should experiment and decide what is best for us. Usually, we start operating in a competitive mode based on our personal experience and discarding others' approach which may not be right.Fact is that there may be more than one solution.

I agree. Emphasis should be more on choosing non processed and non fried foods, e.g. choosing boiled eggs instead of omelette.

Thanks for sharing the video. Nice explanation on Vegan diet. I tried this diet with some success. I was able to keep my HbA1C between 5.7 to 6.2 with this diet but with 1 hr sugar spike of 180 to 200 mg/dl.

PP sugar is checked after 2hrs. If it's under control no need to worry

Whether vegan, vegetarian or non-vegetarian low-carb consumption is the key to controlling blood sugar for majority of diabetics. There is compelling evidence to support this.

"In their 2018 guidelines, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) recommends a plant-based diet as the preferred eating pattern for patients with type 2 diabetes, and the American Diabetes Association advises that a plant-based diet is a healthful option for patients with type 2 diabetes."

Yes boss, majority makes the sense.

Well, I'm not fully convinced. Few points need consideration.

1) We are not saying rice and potatoes cause Diabetes, but diabetic people can't eat them because they can't clear carbs rapidly.

2) Little oil and less protein. So what we would be eating are carbs for our energy.

3) Also, plant proteins are poor. They lack essential amino acids.

4) Regarding the physiological role, it has been suggested that IMCL serves as an intracellular source of energy during exercise. Indeed. IMCL content decreases during prolonged submaximal exercise, and analogously to glycogen, IMCL content is increased in the trained state. So conversely to what bernard says if you do vigorous exercise fats inside muscle cells increase to provide instant source of energy.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/166...

5) Numbers of mitochondria are proportional to the amount of activity that cell is doing. Mitochondra are the powerhouse of any cell. More active the cell more energy it requires and more the numbers of mitochondria.

We still need more input regarding vegan diet from the people who practice it.

I fully agree with Dr. Neil that in type 2 Diabetes, decreasing carb intake and reducing a1c can cause arthritic pains to go away.

Also the same old recital that saturated fats and bad and raise cholesterol levels both of which have been proven wrong.

According to Dr. Neil, eating fats increases imcls. But good healthy fats have mcts and scts which are not stored as fats anywhere in the body. The stored fat is lct.
