Study links very low-carb diet to better glycemic control in diabetes

Type 1 diabetes patients who adhered to a very low-carbohydrate diet showed very good glycemic control, 97% of whom achieved the American Diabetes Association's recommended glycemic targets, according to a study in Pediatrics. Researchers surveyed 316 adult patients with diabetes and the parents of children with type 1 diabetes and found that switching to VLCD from a regular diet was associated with an average A1C change of -1.45% ± 1.04%, and there was an almost 0.1% increase in A1C for each additional 10 grams of carbohydrates consumed.

How does one know the no. Of carbs consumed? Difficult to be precise

You can write down what you eat and put the total of carbs next to each item eaten. Once you ate everything you've planned to eat, add up the totals and you get the grand total for the entire meal/snack.

Here is a sample menu/list. Each item/total changes depending on the amount you may have to eat of each thing.

Bread: 15

Meat: 0

Milk: 13

Apple: 15

Total carbs: 43

Thanks for your prompt reply.what I wanted to know was how do I know the carbs for each item eaten- milk 13,Apple 15 etc ?

As per my Diatecian there has to be 25% of carbs in my daily intake!

Is she right or wrong ?

Dieticians don't like low carb

Low carb is discourage by all associations etc as it can collapse business of all packaged food industries and also Pharma insulins and medicines sales

Carbs should be less than 100gms per day in 3 divided portions.

In keto range it's as less as 30gms per day in 2 to 3 divided portions.
