Insulin problem

My father is 53 and even after taking regular insulin for 4 times, the sugar level is stuck around 270. Now, it's 300.

What to do?

Insulin alone is not a complete solution for diabetes.Review what and how much he is eating, his level and regularity of his physical activity and the stress level he is facing.Diabetes cannot be managed properly unless all these factors are properly addressed.

Has your father's doctor talked about carb counting for each meal and/or snack? When was his last appointment? Did the doctor raise/lower the insulin dose? What type/brand of insulin is he on right now? On the insert that comes with the insulin, there should be a paragraph/directions as to how and when it can be taken (along with the prescription the doctor has written him/herself). Some insulins can only be taken before/after meals (short acting insulins). Other insulins can be taken only once a day (long acting).

He must be type 2. Well. He is not insulin deficient. So insulin treatment is not true logically. You / he must learn about lchf diet. Reduce carbs. But make sure he reduces doses of insulin. If he adopts keto range lchf he can be weaned off insulin.

But do get lab reports done.

Gud luk.

everydayhealth.com/type-2-d... indicates the top insulinic foods are simple aka refined carbs, refined sugars, red meat, fast food and whole milk. My advice is to swap these out with complex carb whole and plant foods which are shown to bring down diabetes risk.

On LCHF diet I have seen Indians on other site reduce insulin from 70 units to 7 units and get A1C down from 9.5 to 6.9 in 2 months. This is for diabetic with 18 years diabetes history.

There's also a 60+ year old diabetic who went off insulin, invokana, januvia, triglimi and is on glycomet now and maintaining A1C of 6 or lower. Even I reduced my A1C from 9.5 to 6.1 in around 2 months.

There's another diabetic in mid 30's who went off 70 units of insulin.

Jasmeet from here is also available on that site seeking help for mother and father and and a great progress. Hidden is there too on that site and she dropped glimi and yet gets non diabetic nos.

Recently someone 60+ joined from UK and within 3 days his insulin dose was halved and his FBS dropped from 15+ (UK nos) to 7 now.

Learn from the masters who have perfected the art. Journey becomes easier when you have 100's of Indian recipes with all macro calculations available, suggested meal plans etc available and quick specific answers to any doubt.

Be careful with Berberine if on certain other medications which work on basis if breakdown of the same in liver, as it slows down the breakdown of those meds in liver and that can get really nasty, just like grapefruit effect.

Mainstream doctors would not know anything about herbs.

And, Berberine cannot be used as substitute for insulin. Insulin is too large a protein molecule to be "taken through oral route and be effective" and that's why it is "injected".
