Hello josepheze,

Welcome to the group. Your HbA1c of 8% means the average blood glucose in the previous three months has been 10.1mmol/lit which is quite high. For non-diabetic HbA1c is less than 5.7%. You must first see your Doctor and take medication as per his advice. After that, get back to this group for any help in making suitable changes in your lifestyle. What is your age?

Lisinopril is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. It is used in combination with other medications to treat heart failure. Lisinopril is also used to improve survival after a heart attack. Lisinopril is in a class of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by decreasing certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, so blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently.

Amlodipine is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure and chest pain (angina). Amlodipine is in a class of medications called calcium channel blockers. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not have to pump as hard. It controls chest pain by increasing the supply of blood to the heart. If taken regularly, amlodipine controls chest pain, but it does not stop chest pain once it starts. Your doctor may prescribe a different medication to take when you have chest pain.

High blood pressure is a risk factor for type 2 diabetes.

Your fasting blood sugar 6.7 mmol/L (121 mg/dL) is not so high. Ordinarily, it should be less than 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L) (safe limit). Maximum normal limit is 130 mg/dL (7.2 mmol/L). Since you have high blood pressure, you should try to lower blood glucose level further by low carbohydrate diet and aerobic exercise. Exercise may also reduce high blood pressure.

Low Carb Food List - Foods to Eat

Meat: Beef, lamb, pork, chicken and others. ...

Fish: Salmon, trout, haddock and many others. ...

Eggs: Omega-3 enriched or pastured eggs are best.

Vegetables: Spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and many others.

Fruits: Apples, oranges, pears, blueberries, strawberries.

Wait for 3 months and recheck HbA1c after 3 months.

Yes..at FBS of 6.7 you are diabetic and most likely having beta cell exhaustion in the pancreas and if I were you, I would see a doctor get on medicines and make lifestyle and dietary changes to suite my goals.
