Natural sweeteners may be preferred over artificial sweeteners.

It can cause nerve damage. Use with caution. I hope you have searched side effects of stevia before starting.

I don't use any sweeteners whether it is natural or artificial. Sometimes I put one spoon of everyday whitener (Sweetened milk powder) in coffee or tea. That will not affect me much since I am taking a small dosage of insulin (Human Mixtard 30/70) in the morning and night.

I am thinking of stopping contributing answers to this site in view of your continued criticism which I can't bear.

One contributor should not criticize another fellow contributor. It is just like fowling on the same side. The asker or the administrator alone has the right to criticize the answer. However thanks for the advice.

You are better off taking no sugar or sugar substitutes. Read about sugar addiction and try to get off it. I was quite addicted to it but after i became diabetic i had to stop completely. If i really need some sweetness ( like my Sunday morning coffee, then i use organic jaggery ).

Jaggery too contains glucose, isn’t it?

gangadharan_nair profile image

Jaggery contains up to 50% sucrose, up to 20% invert sugars, and up to 20% moisture, with the remainder made up of other insoluble matter, such as wood ash, proteins, and bagasse fibres.

It does. It just does not have as many chemicals though as other processed sweeteners. If you see how it is made, it's coninuos stirring of sugarcane juice for 2-3 hours. As a general rule, i don't consume any industry processed food. Hence for me buying sweetners is not an option.

No

Don't take sweet things at all. Diabetes is an enough trouble, why to invite more troubles by throwing sweet chemicals in the body?
