Hello I m 26 years old. I was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes when I was 9. my parents have always been very supportive. They always encourage me to try everything, every sport, dance , participating in social functions, etc . They always taught me , I can do anything and diabetes isn't an obstacle. With their support I m neurophysiotherapist doctor. We are in hunt for finding partner for me . But mentality of society here is not good. Society doesn't see anything beyond the word 'diabetic' . I m facing rejection because of this. Also my relatives, friends keep taunting me for that . I m thankful I got loving and supportive parents but still going through all these in very traumatic. Society keeps me telling I m defective. I don't know how to go through this. Thank you for reading this . Plus here there are no groups or meetups for Diabetics to know or share with other Diabetics of same age group.

Hello there,

Thank you for sharing with this forum your health concerns and personal life troubles. I might not able to give you good advice for T1 as I am T2 and not in your age group. However, as I am a mother for a bunch of kids, I could understand your parents' ways of doing whatever it takes to give you full supports so that you could live safely and comfortably with your T1 conditions.

I would say you are still quite young therefore please do not stress out too much in looking for a right partner. Do you believe in 'true love'? I hope you do or would do because this thought will ease your tensions especially towards whatever people in your community have said negatively towards your diabetic conditions.

I hope your BSL is well control and you have maintained healthy lifestyle. Best of luck.

Hello, A big salute to your parents for encouraging you to move on in life, There are examples where people with Type 1 diabetes are living healthy life with proper lifestyle and medication.so do not worry much and live a destressed life do not worry about what others say, you are already got success in your life, God bless you.

Hello ! WELL done for being so positive ! I would employ any T1 with your attitude. T1s will not be beaten if they can help it. I have been British National Champion 3 times on a catamaran. Been T1 since being 3 & never been unemployed in my life. From a very positive person to another positive person KEEP AT IT. Remember you are not alone good on you !

Ritubhagia first of all I wish you success in all your endeavours. I was T2DM but not any more since 2009. What I did was a support therapy based on diet alone. Can you share your FBS, FSI, C-peptide & Lipid profile?

You may see me through the posts here.

Hi Ritubhagia ,

I'm so happy that you're so positive and that your parents wouldn't let you miss out on doing so many different types of activities. No one should let diabetes keep them from what they want to do. You're not defective-- and neither is anyone else. I'm a type 1 diabetic and I'm 37-years-old. I've been diabetic for 30+ years (since I was 2 weeks old as an infant). I don't let anyone tell me that I can't do something I want to do.

When the time is right, you will find the right person for you. If the person doesn't like or love you for who YOU are, then they aren't right for you. It's better to wait for the right person to come around then find someone who isn't. You don't want to rush anything.
