Hello pnk1941

BPC is made of black coffee with butter and virgin coconut oil with 1 or 2 drops of stevia

Useful for those who practice low carb diet or ketogenic diet

Can skip breakfast and have only early lunch and dinner. Useful when you want to do intermittent fasting of 6:18

I have been practicing IF 16:8 and I am drug free Type 2 D. Fasting 16 hrs from last meal 8 pm till noon next day. Basically I eat two big meals in 8 hours. I used to take bulletproof coffee instead of breakfast to keep me going till noon to have my first meal. Nowadays, I can just take normal black coffee or tea - my body system perhaps gets used to this and I don't get hungry.

You've raised a very good point for those who take medications to lower BS in which I would be interested to know their experiences they had or have been on 16:8.

# Luckysugar , after fasting 16:8 you mention two big meals ,I would like to have some idea about what these meals consist of ? i.e. what you generally eat ? as being on LCHF myself ,sometimes I feel at a loss for some variety in my meals and also you seem to be controlling your BS levels pretty successfully so congrats. ! and keep it up :)

My big two meals mainly consist of leafy greens like spinach, chards, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, green & purple cabbage, radicchio, green mustard, capsicum, zucchini, broccoli leaves, collard green, mushroom, sprouts, dandelion green and some herbs. These are my main source of carbs about 1.5 - 2 cups each meal (3-4 kinds of veggies) with small amount of protein. Pretty much two whole eggs for breakfast and other animal protein at dinner e.g. meat, seafood or chicken. Most importantly, my meal required good amount of good fats apart from EVCO for cooking, I usually sprinkle with EVOO and sometimes extra cheese. I also add some dried coconut chips, avocado, raw nuts or seeds to feel full as I do not normally have dessert or snack. The way I cook my dish is very quick and simple usually cooked with my favorite spices e.g. turmeric, cumin, chilli, paprika with garlic and ginger.

I've given up eating wheat, rice, pasta, noodle and potato since last Christmas. It's really hard and I do miss them. I sometimes make grain-free flat bread made of coconut flour, almond flour and besan flour.

I have no idea on 6:18. Those T1 Americans who drink bulletproof coffee, do they practice IF 16:8?

in reply to Luckysugar

Dear Mr. Gangadharan Nair thanks for this valuable information . The article on bulletproof coffee is an eye opener ( healthline.com/nutrition/3-...) since last few months I was in a dilemma if I should start having BPC and skipping breakfast ! now I know what is better for someone like me who is not a big coffee fan :)

try the black coffea with stevia, and munch a piece of dry or wet coconut to wash down the bitterness and wait for your appetite to return and have breakfast to match your energy requirement prelunch

16 hrs fasting and 8 hrs eating window period to accommodate 2 meals

The lower numbers are the 'window' hours of eating, the higher numbers are hours when one is fasting. I am trying to reach the 18- hour fasting period a day but am managing to get to only 16. Yes, there is a definite problem regarding the routine morning meds as it may not be advisable to take them on an empty stomach. But since my blood work has improved with IF my doctor cancelled my morning BS meds and asked me to take my BP meds after lunch which has become my first meal of the day. I have no need of bullet or any other coffee and plain water sustains me till around 1 pm when I have my first meal of the day.
