I am 66 years now and a diabetic patient for nearly 15 years. Presently I am using Gloconorm G1 one in the morning and one in the evening. last month my blood sugar fasting is 127 and post lunch 175. Now at this stage can I use homeopathy medicine also as a supplement medicine? If so, please suggest best homeopathic medicine for diabetes.

Please check with your doctor before you change or do anything to be on the safe side. Some types of medications can have issues when mixed together.

Gluconorm G1 is a fixed combination of Glimepiride (1 mg) and Metformin (1000 mg).

Glimepiride is used along with diet and exercise, and sometimes with other medications, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Glimepiride lowers blood sugar by causing the pancreas to produce insulin (a natural substance that is needed to break down sugar in the body) and helping the body use insulin efficiently. This medication will only help lower blood sugar in people whose bodies produce insulin naturally.

Metformin is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Metformin is in a class of drugs called biguanides. Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood.

Please note that FBS should be less than 100 mg/dL and PPBS should not be less than 140 mg/dL.

Undergo HbA1c test.

Please note that anti-diabetic pills alone will not control diabetes. More importance should be given to diet, exercise and diabetic education.

Over time, people who have diabetes and high blood sugar can develop serious or life-threatening complications, including heart disease, stroke, kidney problems, nerve damage, and eye problems. Taking medication(s), making lifestyle changes (e.g., diet, exercise, quitting smoking), and regularly checking your blood sugar may help to manage your diabetes and improve your health. This therapy may also decrease your chances of having a heart attack, stroke, or other diabetes-related complications such as kidney failure, nerve damage (numb, cold legs or feet; decreased sexual ability in men and women), eye problems, including changes or loss of vision, or gum disease. Your doctor and other healthcare providers will talk to you about the best way to manage your diabetes.

Consult a Homoeopathic doctor.

Controlling blood sugar (glucose) levels is the major goal of diabetes treatment, in order to prevent complications of the disease. So firstly it is important to make a strict diet plan. Choose foods that are lower in calories, saturated fat, trans fat, sugar, and salt. Eat foods with more fiber. Type 2 diabetes may be managed with non-insulin medications, insulin, weight reduction, or dietary changes. The choice of medications for type 2 diabetes is individualized, taking into account: The effectiveness and side effect profile of each medication & the patient's underlying health status. Following are some homeopathic medicines for diabetes : (Please consult a certified homeopathic doctor before having any of these. I consulted Homeopathy4all.com for my relative. They are good) - Uranium nitrate. [Uran] , Phosphorus. [Phos] , Lactic acid. [Lact] , Bryonia. [Bry] to name a few.
