Im a diabetic from the age of 36 ,now 53yrs.im on glycomet 500 for last 6 months,2 months back ,my blood sugar spiked upto 480mdl Dr advised to take mixtard20-0-20units daily .now bloodsugar level is between 150 to180mdl, Pl advise me to whether to back to tablets, if so prescribe one.

Never stop your tablet , need to continue it at the most you can reduce your intake if you feel the blood sugar is steady.

Problem with insulin is that one tends to increase weight, followed by more insulin resistance, requiring higher doses of insulin, a downwards spiral. Donot stop insulin all of a sudden, buy a glucometer or use the one you have frequently, cut down on carbs, replace with good fats and you will see your need for insulin going down, you can also check out LCHF on HU, or google it and see if you feel it is right for you.
