Yes it does for a number of reasons - chiefly it does not raise blood sugar nor insulin. Get those under control and you are on your way to controlling your condition.

Ghee and other natural fats, animal, nuts, olive oil, avocado provide the energy you need when you dump highly processed carbohydrate and are highly satiating - which means you will not overeat and will be fuller for longer:

Thank you Mike. So Ghee has equivalent (if not additional) benefits when compared with other natural fats for type 2s

the pure ghee is supposed to be very good , but unfortunately we are not in a position to have pure ghee . Then the availability of so called VCO to all is also doubtful.

This seems like a helpful place. Thanks everyone. I was experimenting with RS and wanted to find out whether adding Ghee would help there as unmodified potato starch has been intolerable. My VLC it seems is triggering some sort of Insulin resistance or there is some glucose dumping going on. Don't wish to go back to Januvias and metformins (the latter has triggered some interesting research in Longevity though). All this is mere conjecture and not any commentary. Was looking for help as docs do not dispense with functional medication advise easily. They have quite a bit at stake. Understandable.

My fasting is out of control. IF + LCHF works well to keep my random in 110s Somedays - like these days it shoots to 150s (for a bit ) and 2 hr PP settles around 140s. Else it is 140 max and then back to high 110s or low 120s after 2 hrs. Though at 5.8 i do not wish to go back to pancreas floggers or liver stiflers. I feel some resistance has set in. I try and get by the morning fasting phase with VCO and toying with the idea of ingesting ghee. Starches have been giving me terrible abdominal discomfort. I was wondering if i could deliver butyrate (and other goodies...a mere hypothesis) to the good ones in my gut directly. Yes many have (including the maveric Nikoley) talked about the second meal effect ( did he ?) and the overall gut flora having a benficial impact on T2D control besides leaky gut and the palpable inflammation that i feel in my colon (it is improving it seems or could be my mind playing tricks).

I dread i am headed for 6.5 this September (5.8 / 14-June) Self directed off meds is not a good idea to be caught with when you are preparing to see the doc. Diabetes tames and teaches you all the time :)

The consumption of good dietary fats found in homemade butter, ghee, coconut oil and fish is one significant way to counter the threat of diabetes. He also blames Vitamin D deficiency for the rise in the number of Type 1 diabetes patients.
