how to know the sugar testing machine is correct?

I have got two accu-chek GO sugar testing machine.The old one is more than four years old and the new one I just bought. The new one gives reading of 40 more than the old one. How to find out which machine is correct?

I have gulco card machine which gives always more number than labs..sometime i check bs level for non diabetic it gives more.. I do not use this machine.. Other company's machine may be give accurate reading..but better to go lab and corelate ur readings

I use Glucocard 01-mini mfgd. by ARKRAY Factory Inc. Japan; Piramal's are Indian agency for sales; marginal differences from Lab readings/tests ???????? but am satisfied;

As its been said just adding all Home Meters has some margin of error its common , i guess it use different matrix and best and accurate levels only can be done in Lab testing Plus u need to remember to wash your hands and dry it before testing with Home Meters and always check the expiry of the Strips this some basic precautions needs to be taken .

I use Ac cu- Check Active Glucosmeter which is coded with chip & give correct reading. It may be noticed that no machine is 100% efficient,if not used correctly. take the machine to lab and keep it ready by inserting the strip just before the drawl of sample and ask the sampler to drop one drop of blood on your clean finger tip. check the blood glucose of this sample with your machine. Compare the result with lab testing they will be close to plus minus 5 mg/dl. I am also using Accucheck go since long and found that it is fiarly accurate machine compared to Dr. Morepan. However, we must know one fact that sample for the home testing machine is drawn from the tip of the finger whereas lab samples are taken from the veins. As it is the glucose concentration in both the cases differ as the terminal blood will have 15-20Mg/dl more glucose concentration than the vein samples. So your actual blood sugar level(lab tested) will be approx. 15-20mg/dl less than tested by Accucheck Go machine with finger tip blood sample.
