Insulin Resistance- Has anyone been advised testing of Insulin resistance and why? What is the procedure for IR test and where?

I have a suspicion that I have IR. I am 64, 88 kg and pioglitazone which is medicine for IR is very effective. But Harmful. I wish to know more about IR. Has anyone got IR tested in Pune?

High weight and triglycerides with low HDL point to IR. This is rough guideline.

Many path labs in Pune are doing insulin testing. Test fasting insulin and FBS. Use following formula or one mentioned by medfree to calculate IR.

Sometime back I had suggested one member type2 (screen name) for this test.

I had done insulin testing for myself last year and found that I am not insulin resistant but deficient.

Thyrocare covers it under profile - cardiac markers and under arogyam 1.4 onwards. Some other labs also have facility for these tests. Appo -A, appo B, homocysteine, hscrp etc.

Had done these tests in March this year ( arogyam 1.4). All were negative with good nos.

I could not find arogyam 1.4 in their site. But I found arogyam 1.7. Could not find C-Peptide test. Under Cardiac, Could find C-Reactive protein. I assume, that is different. Will try and look further.

On this particular site they have removed it check their main site. In their list there no mention about c-peptide test. You need to call them. But I think c- peptide is not needed. Insulin testing would be sufficient for IR measurement. C-peptide would be useful when it is hard to control BS by any means.

Apart from what has been said , include C-peptide in your test.Yhey may not do it in pune but send to some lab. In Mumbai and get it tested.

Metropolis have facility for c-peptide in Pune. Some other labs are also doing this test.

Actually, I was looking for C-peptide test, not hsCRP. But as @shrisamarth has suggested, I think I will go in for the Insulin test currently.
