Links for understanding Diabetes for FirstTimers & Others :

1) bloodsugar101.com/

2) If you can manage to get Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution ( a bit expensive ) book, DEFINITELY BUY / BORROW IT. It's worth the money. Read it from cover to end.

The important parts in the book can be read here online.

diabetes-book.com/readit.shtml

Edit : 2.a) For those who want a summary of foods to avoid & what to eat as per Dr. Bernstein,

lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/b...

3) Morning Sugar Levels High - Why ?

phlaunt.com/diabetes/175611...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit 1: If you read link 2) Dr. Bernstein's book & links 1) & 3) thoroughly, before posting your questions, you may not only end up with better Diabetes Control with least / no medicines for Diabetes needed for your situation, but also, you may end up not even posting your question.

Just a question of spending maximum 2 - 3 days for the slowest reader. Just do it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit 2 : First & Foremost, get a Glucometer, if you don't have one, before initiating any Diabetes Control Program on you own or otherwise.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit 3 : Please post your question as a new question. Definitely avoid posting your question in somebody else's question, as you will be hijacking someone else's question, the original poster will not get proper response to his original question due to the diversion created by you and even you will get improper & mixed responses.

Edit 3.a :

For those of you, who do not know how to start a new question,

After logging in, click on the dropdown next to "Communities" link at the top and then click on "Diabetes India".

You will see "Ask Question" button under "Questions", near the Top lefthand side. If you do not see this button, click on the "Questions" button link at top & then in it, click on "Ask a Question". It will take you to the Question Form screen. After putting your question, click on the "Preview" button & it will take you to the next screen, where you can check what you have posted. If you find some error, click on the "Edit" button at the bottom, edit & then click "Preview" again. If you now find everything OK, click on the "Submit" button & you are done with posting your question.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit 4 :

There are sites like myfitnesspal.com, fatsecret.com, etc, where you can post your daily diet to get an approximate idea of your carbs, proteins & fat intake. This will help you definitely in diet management. You can even get the carbs, proteins & fat content, for your own recipes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Request the more experienced to add any further things, that they feel should be mentioned.

Thanks

Agree totally about Dr Bernstein's book. Have edited my post to reflect.

Also agree about the forum not being up to date along with modern forums.

No one has written about diabetes in such detail as Dr. Bernstein. But I think It is more technical for a person who don't know anything about diabetes. Bloodsugar101 is better option for them.

Hi kmbuttx,

Your question is now 4 months old. Your diet & medication would appear to be okay for many people including yourself & your physician. If those were okay, your lab reports should not have been like this (FBS 154, PPBS 198 & HbA1C 10.4).

I am sure many friends of this forum would have suggested alternatives. If you had followed some of those, by this 4 months your lab reports would have shown good improvement & you would have felt the energy in you. I too wish to have a look at those values. If it is already published here would you kindly share the link with me.

(I SEE SOME PROBLEMS IN THE DIET.)

@kmbuttx,

Please copy & paste the above details in your other post

healthunlocked.com/diabetes...

After pasting it in your other post, pls delete it from here.

People who are responding to you in that post will be able to help better.

Thanks

Reduce chapati to 1 at a time. Increase vegetables, add more beans to diet (sprouted and cooked). Use full fat milk. For snacking eat peanuts, almonds, walnuts. Gradual reduction in carb intake will reduce the weight.
