How to carry insulin injections while in traveling?

How to carry insulin injections while in traveling? Specifically when we are visiting abroad. I have been advised to use icepack but how long it will work in check in beg at high temperature? Is anyone to suggest me some method?

I carry insulin for any prolonged travel in a small thermally insulated carrying bag with an ice pack and make sure that the insulin does NOT freeze by not having the ice pack come in direct contact with it. You can use the small sterilizing alcohol container to separate the two. I DO NOT CHECK IT with my luggage. I carry it along on the airplane and request that it should be hand-checked and NOT be put through the X-Ray machine. They always oblige and I have no problem collecting it back after checking. If anyone argues, simply advise them that it is a bio-active medication that should not go through X-Ray. Just make sure that you do not forget to retrieve it before you leave the screening area. You're most welcome! Remember, long acting insulin (not the one that has to be taken immediately before a meal) can go without refrigeration for up to a week. You need to make sure what type you're dealing with. Good luck!

Hi Mr. Yadav,

When I go on long route abroad. I tk insuline pens with me like this :

(1) two flat plastic bottles filled and fully frozen (ice) with water

(2) insuline pens put in a silver paper bag

(3) this bag keep in between both plastic bottles (don't keep pens in direct contact with

The ice botles)

(4) keep all this in a carrying shoulder bag

(5) hand over this full bag to the air hostess to put in the plane fridge (not in the freezer)

(6) at the destinationpick your bag and once you are in your hotel or home, keep in the

Fridge.

P.S.: don't worry if you see the plastic bottles defreezed at the destination. The temperature is sufficient enough to maintain in good condition to the insuline.

One more thing, before taking the insulin in your hand bag, if you can get a MEDICAL CERTIFICATE from any HOSPITAL or ENDOCRINOLOGIST stating that : "Mr. Yadav, age..... is our patient. He is diabetic type DM1 since...... Due to the nature of his diabetes, he is advised to carry always with him insulin pens, syringes etc."

Signed & stamp of the hospital or endocrinologist.

Mostly in all the airports worldwide accept this certificate and you can explain them your case. I don't know, whether you can get such type of certificate in India. If yes that will be a perfect solution.

I am able to get the Italian Farro wheat and have already used it. Since I do not live in India, I have difficulties relating to the rest of the diet contents but I am sure I'll be able to find my way in how to put the LW to good use with ultimately good results as you have clearly demonstrated in your case. I have traveled several countries Like France, Indonesia, Malaysia and Bhutan. Most of the time I kept my insulin pack in between two ice packs and then small hand carry. I haven't faced any problem at all. However, it is always advisable to keep the Doctor certificate / prescription with you. Once I had kept in checked beg and rest of the time in hand carry. Hope this would help you.
