poor quality of advice

rnpath profile image
23 Replies

I notice that most of the suggestions seem to come from non medical or those from other paramedics, whose claims are either commercial based, or highly prejudiced with no scientific basis of their claims.

the diabetic audience is prepared to believe anyone who allows them to eat as usual and are not really serious in following their own physicians advice.

This writer,a diabetic has tried yoga, homeo, ayurvedic, herbal , acupuncture, and reiki.

found all of them disappointing

, I have tried in these columns to encourage all diabetics to return back to time tested Oral pills and or insulin, before harming themselves more.

But unfortunately, there are very few takers for my suggestion.

I myself benefited nothing so far from these suggestions.

hence out of frustration I am voluntarily withdrawing from this blog spot

I totally disagree eventhough I am insulin- dependant.. There is nothing wrong in trying any other methods which are not basically harmful.

@mpath,Actually,you have no reason to complain because a vast majority of people are doing exactly what you are advocating i.e.depending on pills and insulin or both. The discussions are primarily focused on diet, exercise, stress reduction and diabetic complications,It is OK if some people think that alternate systems are worth giving a trial. At the end of the day, we humans do the right thing only after exhausting all other options,So,please do not be discouraged.

very true. I am in full agreement with you. There is bigger medical racket to keep you engaged in meds. I believe since diabetic condition internal to the human body the cure also lies inside. Only vested interests are keeping that knowledge away from us.

Is there any such course of study(specialization) in medicine called DIABETOLOGY

Diabetalogist?, to my knowledge no, either at graduate level or PG, only the general physician( MD) is competent to treat a diabetic patient.Displaying such boards(diabetologist) by the doctors with MBBS degree, is it not an offense?Cheating public.

What is meant by Fat,can any body describe in detail meaning of FAT and Fat containing items to be consumed as for pure vegetarian, why over weight person is called in simple Language as FAT or OBESE,WHAT MAKE THEM SO

I fully agree with you. Some one suggested me, from this forum only to contact a person who treats diabetes. I contacted that person and he came to my house. He brought three drugs to my house all three belonged Forever USA Company. Theses were 1)Aloe Vera 2) Garlic capsule and 3)Omega- 3 capsules. Since I knew about these medicines , I told him that these medicines can not cure diabetes & all these were general tonic and may improve general health but it will not cure diabetes .

But that person insisted that the Aloe Vera , garlic & Omega -3 will cure diabetes . I refused to buy these very costly products from him for Rs 4000/- which he was charging me. When I did not purchase from them, they left my house with out selling me the medicines. Later I, realised that they were the agent of Forever products. All are cautioned to be aware .

Why not use discretion? See in today's blog two useful suggestions are there.

1. Try low carb diet? If you have a trust worthy family physician consult him

2. Take a walk after dinner.

Try to separate good suggestions from bad

Don't go to extremes on anything. Take the middle path.

Good luck

low carb diet is the first commonsense approach, anybody will follow first before coming into this forum, and is hence not the final solution.

Walk after dinner is fine, but what about those with osteo arthritis knee or hip?

I feel your food habit is slightly flawed.

Continue to use home made ghee, made from whole milk, butter etc .

You said you are not taking carbs but you are using wheat which is carbs+gluten

Soyabeen should NOT be taken in any form except fermente d form.

How do you ferment it?

Soak it for 48-72 hours. Allow sproting for 5 -7 days..

(Sprouts willbe 9 inch by now)

Add it while doing your batter for dosa or idli. If you do not eat these, add these ( This is second best as you are not fermenting) to your batter for chapati after grinding it.

You have not mentioned vegetables and fruits.

You have not gone to the bottom of the disease and have not tried the most crucial therapy i.e exercising. Do leisure jogging, brisk walking or the most effective cycling for at least one month religiously and share your experience with all of us.

rnpath profile image
rnpath in reply to psgemini

brisk walking is fine for those with normal joints. not so for those with advanced osteoarthritis.

cycling religiously was partly responsible for my eroding the cartilage in my knees and premature osteoarthritis, and so please do not suggest this to all

psgemini in reply to rnpath

dear mpath in your original post poor quality of advice I could not see you mentioning that you have advanced osteoarthritis and hence my suggestion of exercising but here I would like to point out that you yourself being a high diabetic must be well aware of role exercise plays in controlling this disease and leading a healthy life.

And one more suggestion just being highly critical and having such a negative attitude just doesn't help. My advice was in all earnestness and nothing more than that.

Thank you

thank you for your concern and noble thoughts.

There is something between being pessimistic and optimistic, "Realistic"

My critical comments are meant in all earnestness not to encourage quackery, wasting precious time and landing in more complications for the diabetic while looking for the non existing cure

.

With advancing age and arthritis exercise needs to be modified towards meaningful activity

thank you for your practical approach

GTT is a test for a prediabetic only.

In general it has no role in a confirmed diabetic

, and rather potentially harmful when you overload the system already burdened with sugar with an extra load of glucose

.

I have unfortunately seen even Diabetologists resorting to this without understanding the practical implications.

rnpath profile image
rnpath

I have not seen a confirmed diabetic turning non diabetic.

However It is possible for a pre diabetic with a judicious combination of diet and exercise to remain symptom free just ike most yogis.

But they remain glucose intolerant for life.

Few who were terminally ill in a hospital setting had to be on insulin finally and left their last breath in coma.

You have gods blessing to be in control of diabetes at your age

.wish you a long healthy life

Thank you for your noble thoughts.
