Hello I have got surprised and shocked to note

Tofu is such a wonderful product since

My Father is diabetic since last 18 years and his Fasting sugar level was 190 and PP level was 260 after taking medicine. The doctor advised us to give reading for 5 days (Fasting and PP )so that he can prescribe Insulin Dose.

By chance i have started giving tofu (Soya Paneer) in breakfast as paneer bhurji only for next five days.

the reading was like this

FASTING PP

DAY ONE 180 160

DAY TWO 159 145

DAY THREE 151 140

DAY FOUR 141 128

DAY FIVE 134 118

AFTER that on next visit and the doctor advised not to take insulin and changed the oral medicine not given insulin.

Now since last 2 months his sugar level is fasting 110-120, PP 95-105 and taking tofu regularly.

Now out of curiosity i have started checking on healthy persons and their sugar level is not increasing e.g. Fasting is 120, PP is 120-125

The benefit is likely to be from reducing carbohydrate intake. Tofu may be okay as part of a balanced diet, but you can have too much of a good thing. There are other, unprocessed sources of fat and protein that are likely to be beneficial too.

It seems you are a qualified professional in this field. My request is please do it your self once for your self take 200 gram tofu as paneer bhurji without adding much of oil and check the results your self. I believe that you will the same way i have felt and better let us know the benefits take your sugar level Fasting and PP and share with rest of us.

My father is taking it regularly and his Fasting sugar is Now since last 2 months his sugar level is fasting 110-120, PP 95-105 and taking tofu regularly only in breakfast.

More over even random is also around 150 at dinner time.

And when he has taken it during at dinner Fasting is around 95-105. on doctors/ dietitian's recommendation he is taking it only during braekfast.

I have read on packing of that Tofu pouch that its Cholesterol free, good source of natural calcium and contains Iron also. Fat is around 3 gm per100 it seems moderate

I have knowledge only about tofu( Soya paneer ) since my father is a vegetarian and no knowledge about Eggs or other type of Non veg Protein Diets.

Its also mentioned that 25 gram of protein is required for every person per day.as per US FAO

May be due to its cholesterol free properties or other features this effect have come

Is it worth taking Tofu in lunch and dinner ? So far I have not even seen Tofu? Where I will get it ? Do you know any recipe of Tofu?

Its not a problem one can take tofu in lunch or dinner how ever my fathers diatitian have suggested for breakfast since he is taking medicine if level goes down during the day one can take suitable corrective action

Normal paneer contains fats of 8-10 gm/100 gm

in tofu its less then 3 gram/100 gm

its cholesterol free and lots of iron and calcium naturally

you suggest that we should correct mistake?

As per your calculation protein does not give much calories you are wrong kindly calculate the calories requirement and then decide the diet

I have suggested to a close friend of mine for consuming tofu (soya paneer ) and results are wonderful e.i.

Fasting 180

of course he is taking medicine also in morning

and next day when he has taken only tofu in dinner in his dinner results are even more wonderful

Your statement is not complete since you have not given the

calculation for calorie requirement and source of these calories even a rough estimate is going to help.

Please advice the source of calories and and source of protein

for a normal person as per your calculation

To much of any thing is going to harm. Every body is aware of this.

Will you please look into the benefits of this diet. The person who is suffering from diabetes where the diet is under restriction /observation of all family members and if some benefit can be there lets guide him/her.

even if you are a doctor you have started commenting without even checking the good effect of Tofu ( Soya paneer) even for one breakfast. what seems to me

Soya have 45% proteins more then any other lentil i have came know and in tofu protein is 14-15 gm/per 100 gm and fats are less then 3 gm/per 100 gm can you give us a comparative chart of other lentils nuts egg paneer etc

tofu( soyabean paneer ) is a diet and not a medicine and i suggest that any one can try for at least once breakfast take the reading for fasting and PP

Since i am a healthy person my Fasting and PP level remain equal ie Fasting 120 and PP 122 for 29.4.2013. And during my break fast i have taken only tofu about 200 gram and noting else. I do not feel hungry till around 2 pm and taken my lunch.

and a cup of tea around 11 am

I have a doubt. As you mentioned that it has to be taken as breakfast, can one have it in raw condition or it has to be cooked? We in south if available will try to make a recepie and should it be taken alone or with bread or roti etc?

As regarding TOFU (soya paneer) its among the cheapest source of protein and other good benefits

even Mahatma Ghandhiji has recommended it for healthy nation for consuming soya products like Tofu ( Soya paneer ) Soya Milk etc.

It seems the person who have taken raw soyabean in cooking its difficult to take the beany flavour. Hence i suggest that one should take soya products and not soya directly

you are providing only half information lets celebrate the journey with your guidance.

since above some where you have suggested that for balanced diet

one should take Protein, Carb and Fats for getting the required calories. 3 days ago

100gms CARBS = 400kcal

60-80gms protien = 240kcal

Balance is FAT

4XCARBS + 9XFAT + 4XProtein == 1800kcal

Compute backwards with 100gms c arb and 60 grams protein.

when we ask for vegetarian diet for 60 gm proteins you are not telling the truth. do not try to confuse us if you are not aware

What I have understood in this blog its about Diabetes only and you are mixing thyroid without any reason and have started confusing Diabetes and thyroid.

But we are talking of majority suffering from diabetes, a few person can be having thyroid also.

Please consider and advice you are a knowledgeable person.

Based on your inputs i started giving my mother everyday paneer bhurji/paneer salad and now after 7 days when we tested her sugar level...it has dropped down as below:

Earlier-> 148(fasting)/192(PP)

Now -> 120(fasting)/124(PP)
