EAT TOFU (SOYA PANEER) TO SAVE YOUR SELF FROM DIABETES

Hello I have got surprised and shocked to note

Tofu is such a wonderful product since

My Father is diabetic since last 18 years and his Fasting sugar level was 190 and PP level was 260 after taking medicine. The doctor advised us to give reading for 5 days (Fasting and PP )so that he can prescribe Insulin Dose.

By chance i have started giving tofu (Soya Paneer) in breakfast as paneer bhurji only for next five days.

the reading was like this

FASTING PP

DAY ONE 180 160

DAY TWO 159 145

DAY THREE 151 140

DAY FOUR 141 128

DAY FIVE 134 118

AFTER that on next visit and the doctor advised not to take insulin and changed the oral medicine not given insulin.

Now since last 2 months his sugar level is fasting 110-120, PP 95-105 and taking tofu regularly.

Now out of curiosity i have started checking on healthy persons and their sugar level is not increasing e.g. Fasting is 120, PP is 120-125

Try this out and save your loved one and others from bad effect of Diabetes.

This tofu is easily available in Delhi and NCR in leading Modern Retail chains like Easy day More , Big Bazar, Big Apple and Reliance fresh etc.

  • share and save your loved one from the ill effects of this deadly desease

  • Prevention is better then cure, cheers

  • The benefit is likely to be from reducing carbohydrate intake. Tofu may be okay as part of a balanced diet, but you can have too much of a good thing. There are other, unprocessed sources of fat and protein that are likely to be beneficial too.

  • what are these sources, please share

  • how ever tofu ( soyabean ) paneer is easily available rest any this better available please share

  • FAT is far more beneficial because 58% proteins do get converted to sugars whereas barely 10% of fat gets converted to sugars. problem with protein is it spikes late so 2 hrs PPBS on a protein diet could be misleading.

  • My father is taking it regularly and his Fasting sugar is Now since last 2 months his sugar level is fasting 110-120, PP 95-105 and taking tofu regularly only in breakfast.

More over even random is also around 150 at dinner time.

And when he has taken it during at dinner Fasting is around 95-105. on doctors/ dietitian's recommendation he is taking it only during braekfast.

I have read on packing of that Tofu pouch that its Cholesterol free, good source of natural calcium and contains Iron also. Fat is around 3 gm per100 it seems moderate

    Your comments are welcome

  • measure PPBS at around 150 min if taking protien rich diet. Someone was taking quite a lot of eggs and his PPBS shot up at 160 minutes onwards.

  • I have knowledge only about tofu( Soya paneer ) since my father is a vegetarian and no knowledge about Eggs or other type of Non veg Protein Diets.

Its also mentioned that 25 gram of protein is required for every person per day.as per US FAO

May be due to its cholesterol free properties or other features this effect have come

  • Dietary cholesterol has n o impact on cholesterol if you are low on carbs. I eat Saturated fat also. :)

  • Standard recommendation is 0.8gm/Kg unless you are eager to damage kidneys faster. Diabetics as it is are prone to kidney problems with 44% diabetic Americans having some kidney problem or other. Not sure how much of data is documented in India.

Again computation is not based on weight but lean body mass because FAT in body needs no protein :)

  • There's no dhool .. only fact. Look at this also :

    indoorclimbing.com/Protein_...

    :)

  • Or compute the range from here:

    indoorclimbing.com/Protein_...

So you are right on minimum protein requirement of 25gms .. :)

  • shall we get this Tofu anywhere in India

  • Anup,

Is it worth taking Tofu in lunch and dinner ? So far I have not even seen Tofu? Where I will get it ? Do you know any recipe of Tofu?

Should I take it in addition to Salad and curds ?

  • Paneer is good enough.

  • Normal paneer contains fats of 8-10 gm/100 gm

in tofu its less then 3 gram/100 gm

its cholesterol free and lots of iron and calcium naturally

  • We are FAT Eaters Those on LOW CARB HIGH FAT DIET don't get scared by FAT at all .... we also eat nuts wihich is 75% FAT, coconut oil which is saturated fat ... FAT IS GOOD if on LOW CARB Diet :)

  • it means that if we are committing a mistake

you suggest that we should correct mistake?

As per your calculation protein does not give much calories you are wrong kindly calculate the calories requirement and then decide the diet

  • On high protein diet check PPBS 2.5 hrs and 3 hrs after meals and compare with what you get at 2 hrs. 2 Hrs will always be lower.

  • Oh i thought it was your own reply. So yet another copy paste.? Man ...

  • good luck

I have suggested to a close friend of mine for consuming tofu (soya paneer ) and results are wonderful e.i.

    Fasting 180

    PP 126

of course he is taking medicine also in morning

and next day when he has taken only tofu in dinner in his dinner results are even more wonderful

    Fasting was 106

    better enjoy

    cheers

  • 1gm Protein == 4kcal

    1gm fat == 9kcal

So i have to eat less for same enegry ...

LOW CARB dieters have n o isues eating lots of FATS... no cholesterol no heart attacks and best is easy on kidneys because less medicines, lower sugar level :)

  • Get your proteins from Nuts, Lintels, Egg, Paneer and Chicken since you are non vegetarian. We are lower carb high fat diet fellows. Protein to the extent of 20% is ok so to say ... but i would rather put it at .75-.80gms/kg of body weight.

  • Your statement is not complete since you have not given the

calculation for calorie requirement and source of these calories even a rough estimate is going to help.

Please advice the source of calories and and source of protein

for a normal person as per your calculation

  • 100gms CARBS = 400kcal

    60-80gms protien = 240kcal

    Balance is FAT

    4XCARBS + 9XFAT + 4XProtein == 1800kcal

Compute backwards with 100gms c arb and 60 grams protein.

  • CARBS include ?

  • Carbohydrates

  • please suggest a list of products from where we can have 60-80 gram of proteins per day as you have mentioned here in above

  • 100gms nuts adds about 16P 56F

    2 EGGS is 11P 9F

    30gm cheese - 7 P 7F

    1 CUP Yogurt - 13P 4F

    100gm Cottage cheese - 12.5P 4.5F

    1TBSP Lentils - 3P

  • fatsecret.com/

Search for everything that you eat and data should be there.

GI is a concept used by HIGH CARB Low FAT dieters .. being on LCHF i don't bother about GI/GL ... i eat anything just keeping my total CARB to less than 100gms/day.

Too much protein can cause GOUT can convert to sugar so i am from opposite camp.

  • sir

To much of any thing is going to harm. Every body is aware of this.

Will you please look into the benefits of this diet. The person who is suffering from diabetes where the diet is under restriction /observation of all family members and if some benefit can be there lets guide him/her.

even if you are a doctor you have started commenting without even checking the good effect of Tofu ( Soya paneer) even for one breakfast. what seems to me

I will be too pleased to get your comments

  • No sir. 0.8gms of protein is norm as normal diabetics are not doing weight training or are body builders that they need higher protein levels. In addition it will spike sugar (though some experts will jum p in to disprove by saying that 2 hr and 3 hr level remained same .. which itself is erroneous because there should be a drop between 2 and 3 hrs). I appreciate you effrots but i am not a big fan of protein and that too Soya. Soya is not at all workable for Thyroid patients and diabetics shouldn't be over confident about their thyroid because that is also a part of endocrine system.

As for FAT there are diabetics on 70% fat diet and it works well for them. They restrict CARBS to ensure that CHO+FAT doesn't cause the usual bad reputation that FAT gets but actual culprit being CHO

  • People with GOUT cannot take Soya much because PROTEIN for them is poison. Too much of protein also leads to OA due to calcium loss from body ... :D

  • Sir Tofu have good amount of calcium you know ?

  • Most so called professionals here are BUSY talking ADA commentary ...

Those who have switched awqay from ADA have seen benefit. Even a person on INSULIN when he tried the grain free diet for one day his fasting was lower by 30 points.

Some people just feel threatened as a professional when they find that their parroting of PHARMA Lords line of education is challenged and more and more people are embracing the LOW CARB HIGH FAT lifestyle.

  • anup ji

you are providing only half information lets celebrate the journey with your guidance.

since above some where you have suggested that for balanced diet

one should take Protein, Carb and Fats for getting the required calories. 3 days ago

    100gms CARBS = 400kcal

    60-80gms protien = 240kcal

    Balance is FAT

    4XCARBS + 9XFAT + 4XProtein == 1800kcal

Compute backwards with 100gms c arb and 60 grams protein.

when we ask for vegetarian diet for 60 gm proteins you are not telling the truth. do not try to confuse us if you are not aware

  • Ok let me ask you counter question.

I am thyroid patient and i am a vegetarian. Now you tell me what source of protein i take? I am very much aware because i am treating MYSELF and i read my meter.

Question i have already answered and i don't think i need to answer that again and again ... I think you are confused ... i am not confusing anyone. My stand is very clear ... i dont insist on anything above 0.8 times body weight for protein and i am pretty fixed on that.

  • sir

What I have understood in this blog its about Diabetes only and you are mixing thyroid without any reason and have started confusing Diabetes and thyroid.

But we are talking of majority suffering from diabetes, a few person can be having thyroid also.

Please consider and advice you are a knowledgeable person.

regards from deep of my heart

  • No. We have to consider everything.

Protein for me is 0.8 ties body mass because Protein also converts to sugar specially when you start going low on carbs. FAT doesn't convert to sugar beyond 5%. It may be working for your father .. good ... but with protein loaded diet test BGL at

    2/2.5/3/3.5 hrs after meals

    Keep a record

One user has already demonstrated his levels did not fall off between 2 and 3 hrs despite being on medicines. So if this is result of protein then why take protein in excess? Why take soya? Why not good load of CHEESE?

If levels don't fall after 2 hrs then this diet is useless because it will JACK up A1C since ABG will tend to remain high. You are experimenting i can understand ... you care for your father but care in long term too. What surprise me is certain fanatics parroting crap regarding pumping protein upto 1.2gm/kg to diabetics. yes if you father is doing strength training etc then you can give him 1.2. If he is an actively trained athelete you can even give him 2 gms/kg ... Protein can never really be as effective as fat. This is my take we can agree to disagree.

My son goes to gym and even he is restricted to 1hm/Kg by his instructor. I don to to gym so i am just at 0.8gm/kg

  • Low in glycemic index ie 16 approx.

The Glycemic index (GI) play an important role for maintaining the sugar level. This tofu have least GI. hence one shall opt for least GI foods in order to maintain sugar levels

there is no harm in doing so

  • The glycemic index, or GI,

measures how a carbohydrate-containing food raises blood glucose. Foods are ranked based on how they compare to a reference food — either glucose or white bread.

A food with a high GI raises blood glucose more than a food with a medium or low GI.

Meal planning with the GI involves choosing foods that have a low or medium GI. If eating a food with a high GI, you can combine it with low GI foods to help balance the meal.

And person with diabetes can always

  • Thanks! skhanna303

Based on your inputs i started giving my mother everyday paneer bhurji/paneer salad and now after 7 days when we tested her sugar level...it has dropped down as below:

    Earlier-> 148(fasting)/192(PP)

    Now -> 120(fasting)/124(PP)

  • hello

If you can take soya paneer( Tofu) instead of Normal animal milk paneer you will get further good results

    cheers
