I am maintaining my sugar level with exercise diet control yoga and one tablet which is maintainace dose.
I have managed to bring down my "fasting" blood glucose levels to 95-105 from 130-145 by taking Metformin twice a day. I am on a relatively low carb diet. I don't count carbs but avoid all sweets, rice, wheat, flour, potatoes, juices, etc, etc, etc. My diet always had a lot of eggs, cheese, butter, meat, fish and vegetables. I didn't ever have a major problem with my blood glucose levels after eating. No yoga, no walking, definitely no running. Cheers !!
My Mom is 77 years old. She was on Metformin but then taken off to use insulin shots. Something about her kidneys. Have you heard of that? Type 2
Yes, those who already have "damaged" kidneys cannot take Metformin.
Regular Allopathic medication is not good for controlling diabetes. I have managed my glucose level for 330 (FS) to 87-94 by Ayurveda medication, Yoga and supplements. I avoid all sweets, rice, potatoes, juices and fruits. I used Allopathic medicine only for 10 days initially.
What is Ayurveda? What supplements do you use?

I am now 62 years old. I am now taking glucomet 250 daily before breakfast. My sugar level varies from 110(FBS) and 170 (After breakfast) Daily walkng 2 to 3 kms. I have no body tiredness or weakness as such at present.

Not just sugar but also carbs like rice, wheat, fluor, maize, potatoes, juices, most fruits, etc, etc. Its still a huge misconception that "sugar" alone is responsible for the onset of diabetes.
When I was 68 yrs old, I was diaognised with diabetes Type 2. I am 80 now. My fasting bs is usually 80-100 & pp is usually 170-190 but sometimes it peaks up to 240 or so. U am taking lantus 18 units & metforminHCl 1g daily. Complications faced were glucoma & retinopathy.
There should have been more option than one option, one for self and other for others (loved ones)
What so you mean by hunger-gatherer diet? Meat? I am 57 and have gained weight I do not have diabetes but my Mom does and has memory issues and I am trying to help her all I can.Doctor's and prescriptions are not the answers. You have to diagnose and take care of yourself. I believe after age 50 your genes are hard to fight.
My latest report Fasting Blood Sugar 115 & post lunch 145mg. I regularly walk, do little bit Pranayama, little bit excercise & take tablet Gluconorm SR 500mg One in the morning & one in the night. I also use Homeopathy & Ayurvedic medicine. I want to reduce Alopathic medicine. I am also using Gomutra & tulsi ark. I had Angioplasty in the year 2003 & one stunt is inserted which was failure in the year 2004. After that I have taken alternative treatment & taken Chelation Therapy, EECP. Now the blocks have been cleared & I am well and maintaining good health with the blessing of God.
Try to use vijaysar extract powder or vijaysar tumbler. U can use mesha shringi in place of Gomutra & tulsi ark. I also consumed gluconorm for few days only but I left taking allopathy medicine completely.

My friend brought under control his blood sugar from 295 to 95-105 after food without any medication.This was happened after about 5 years of yoga and 1 hour walking in alternate days.
Now,my blood sugar after food is 185 and sometime it goes up to 225.It's varying.My age is 55 years now.
It is very difficult to get a yoga instructor on daily basis.I am walking 5 kms. in the morning and 4 kms
in the evening.Also I am doing 1 hour yoga after 8 in the evening with the help of a book.Still I can't bring my sugar level under control.I am not taking any medicine,because once you take you have to take life long.
Now,if anybody suggest any remedy to bring under control I am ready to do.

I am having Diabetes from last 16years.
Eating daily 4 times, Morning 8.0 am Breakfast + 1 Fruit, afternoon 2.0 pm Lunch 3 chapatis and vegetables, salads, evening 2 to 3 Biscuits at 6.0 pm and at 9.30 pm Dinner with 2-3 chapatis and vegetables , 3 nos small Garlic,and 100gms Rice, Daily 8 to 10 glass of water Carb is very low, Daily Diet. this gives Healthy feeling, Medicine Insulin 22 Units ( 14 + 8 ) + Janumet, B Complex Caps, Night Reclamet before breakfast and Dinner.
Morning Pranayam + Kapalbhati 30mts, and walk for 1-2 km daily.
it controls my Diabetes and keep me fit, Fasting 80 -90, post 130-140.
Occassionaly sweet and Icecreams once in a month.
Controlling Diet and Daily Pranayam and Excercise gives Energy for full day.
