First thing first, Consult the dietician and change your diet. Split your meals to halves. Then take the medicines at the right time as prescribed.

Take regular physical exercise. If u love yourself, learn to have a smile always, be gentle and challenge your friends to make you angry and if they succeed, you lose naturally! We all will die, but do we want to suffer (kidney problems, eye loss, pancreas trouble etc.) b4

My HbA1C level/s has been less than 6 % ever since I came to know that I am diabetic. After getting fully cured of TB , completely quitting alcohol and smoking and with correct meal plans, morning exercise and some meditation the last test reading , two months ago , further came down to 5.3.

My latest HbA1c level is 6.2. I do drink wine once in a week. Should I stop it completely?

in reply to prakgad

You should stop taking drinks completely & immediately. They give you dry calories and aggrevate diabetes considerably. Drinks are quite harmful in long run? It impairs the function of Insulin.

I wish some was there to advise me not to drink?

Dear Sir,

I am taking insulin for the last three years and sugar level was under control. Last but one my HBA1C was 6.6 but in last February when I checked my HBA1C becomes higher 9.2. Doctor has changed the oral medicine (Pioz MF15) to Saxagliptin 5 mg and Huminsulin 30/70 from 25 to 30. However when I checked my Fasting, PP and random (in the evening) it is 120 to 140; 250 and approximately 145 respectively. I am waiting for my HBA1C test in mid June, 2013.

Besides these drugs Doctor has also prescribed Prezopress 5 (once), Rozavel 5 (once),

Deplet 75 (one) at night and Dilzem CD 120 (two, one in the morning and one at night) and for my BP I am taking telmisartan 40H.

Kindly advise how to control my sugar level for PP

I am diabetic since 1996 i.e. since last 17 years. Because my fasting and PP sugar levels were going out of limit i.e. say above 140 fasting and above 240 PP, the doctor has advised me to increase my dose of medicine to 1 tab Glucored(400 mg Metformin + 2.5 mg Glibenclamide) before breakfast, Euglim 2(Glimipiride 2mg) before lunch and Euglim 1(Glimipiride 1 mg) + 1 Pioz 7.5 by dinner. This medication has helped in bringing sugar levels down to some extent. But but, some doctors/ medical practitioners opine that Glimipiride is a medicine that hastens the patient to go on insulin rather early. I would of course like to avoid and postpone such compulsion to take insulin as that has its own adverse impacts and that also does not ensure stoppage of taking tablets in due course. Will somebody knowledgeable on this aspect clarify as to whether 'Glimipiride' really compels a patient to go on insulin rather early or is harmful for use in the long run i.e. say 2/3/4/5 years.

My last HbA1C test result was 7.5, which my doctor termed as Fair. Although my fasting sugar levels are less than 90 but my PP level was 230 till about four ago, my doctor prescribed me to take Voglimac 0.2, which I am taking from the last four days, shall test my sugar levels after two days, hope fully the readings come in the prescribed limits? I am basically taking Gemar Forte 2 after lunch and dinner and taking 12 units of Lantas insuline before 30 minutes of taking dinner, please advise if I am going on the right direction.

Diabetic since 30 years.........A1C has always been between 6 and 7. Medications are since the beginning of the onset,

Metformin (Glucophage) 500 gms. x 3 a day, plus Lisinipril 10 gm. x 2 a day for B/P all these years.......... Am strict vegetarian, eat and enjoy good rice in abundance (!), with

many types of vegetables (rotating daily), walking and (of late) gym activities with heavy weights and dumpbells.........Yesterday I got for the first time hypoglycemia with sudden body sweats, not able to concentrate, not knowing where I was - disoriented!! - sugar level dropped to 45. Some quick chocolate with orange juice restored me to normalcy............ Does this confirm that heavy exercise with weights should be avoided ?
