Diabetics usually live longer than non diabetics.

No. With the right attitude, being diagnosed can actually extend you lifespan because it makes you much more aware of what you are eating and steers you away from the junk foods or non-foods that so many people feed into their body these days.

Just think what nature designed you to live on i.e. fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, etc. in their natural form (not processed, canned, concentrated, reduced, freeze-dried, etc) and make these a significant part of your diet. You can still have roasts, fry-ups, fish & chips, and so on now and again if you like - you don't have to be a martyr to the condition, but make natures menu very much your main intake. I was diagnosed with Type 2 when I was 40 and am now 83, still going strong and with all my bits and pieces.

Just work with mother nature not against her and you'll be fine.
