It saddens me to be writing this - Has anyone else had an appointment with a Registrar from their GP's practice & found it to be a total waste of time?! (May as well have been talking to our dog!)

More often than not. Pam, who calls em as she sees em.

I get a lot of sense out of our dog Pax, in fact He is quite bright and puts many to shame.

Why did you need to see the Registrar at Practice ?.

Normally I am seen about once a year to see how I am getting on, also seen by the Chemist regarding my medications same frequency.

Some practices. Onto us to use Registrars to ease the pressure on GP's. The one I saw h much to learn re "Bedside manner"!

in reply to Finglas-Boy

That is the problem our Registrar generally does not deal with patient health it is more a management situation. I suppose in your practice situation they have different ideas. Sometimes bedside manners can become a lost cause.

Also the possibility (!) Registrars are given the crap jobs - a preconceived view of mental health??!!

Sometimes when we suffer Depression treatment by GPs and Health Professionals can vary and sometimes you may need to consider changing to a different partner in the Surgery who does have more understanding on mental health matters,

Go onto NHS CHOICES on the internet and enter your Surgery name. Check the interests of each Partner and choose one with an interest in mental health when you make a new appointment go to that Partner

This is standard practice and your Surgery/GP will understand.

I see different GPs, same practice for various health problems I suffer from.

Hi

Yeah can certainly relate to this unfortunately.

Think it makes such a positive difference if you've got an understanding, supportive & helpful GP/registra that you connect well with.

I find my dogs a great listener to me though lol! 🐶 In addition he probably knows & accepts me better than any human!

In all seriousness though I hope you can find a more suitable GP/Registra 🙂

I have some great conversations with our dog. Usually @ 3 am when everyone's asleep. But she understands everything I say & one look into those brown eyes .....!!

We have an Irish Collie and He is as bright as a button, He knows what you are feeling or what you are going to do before I know myself. He likes His bottom rubbed every morning before breakfast, very strange. lol

Hi borderriever

Aww he sounds lovely, bet he's a very energetic dog with being a collie. Dogs are so loyal & clever. Funny how they all have their little ways, habits & routines 🐾

I've a boxer who is now very old but still as mad as a brush! He bounces rather than walks & has never grown up to be honest. Always acting like a pup still most days.

He's very tuned in to me & always four paws beside me in good & bad times 🙂 Would be lost without him.

Dogs are the only thing that love you more than it's actual self! Love him ta bits!

They are the best diversion you can have they become embroiled in your family and wriggle into your heart.

Our Pax has just come back from His walk and when He entres the room touches my foot with His wet nose and cuddles in around my legs when on laptop. If I am just sitting He takes a leap onto my lap and nearly smothers me

I agree totally 🙂

Lovely to come across another dog lover who understands how they paw their way into our hearts 🐾

Pax sounds like a right character. Funny how no matter what their size & weight they think they're lap dogs & can squish up onto your lap at any time they choose 😆

Is morning began just like the rest. The slightest sign that I'm awake ie, just ever so slightly open one eye, & BAM! I've got a doggie's tongue half way down my throat! ("Morning Daddy! I love you Daddy! Wanna play Daddy?!")

I have never heard of a registrar at a doctors surgery. I thought they only worked in hospitals.

Registrars are now GPs in training, working under the supervision of an experienced GP.

in reply to blackcat64013

Oh thank you.

Finglas-Boy profile image

No supervision here. Registrars are responsible to a GP. World of difference twit "supervision" & "responsible"!

In our area practices Registrars in in a hospital before moving to general practice & then return to hospital for the final part of training.
