Talking on this forum is a big step. Well done!

Unfortunately, we do not always get the right help at the right time from the right people. Should we then give up? If you are on here then no way is your answer.

Is there one person in your family you can trust to open up to? If not, one friend? The only disappointment that can hurt you is losing your self worth by holding it in. The other one festers and bites you until you harm yourself again.

No one deserves to feel bad and to feel good again takes work. You have started the journey so keep trying until you get what you need.

The Japenese are clever instead of self harm they have an effigy/doll etc. that takes the damage instead so maybe consider that or get outside and run instead of the blade.

Choose a better option and if you don't like the results change again..

Good luck and remember we all care (and you have to also want better).

Writing here is a start as the folk here are really great & understanding. But please try & talk to your family if you think you can. My family are great support but they also no when to leave me alone. But also please please get back to your Dr. Take care 💝

Hello Brooky , I'll tell you what is s*** and that is you having to live like this. It's not fair, and it separates you from family and friends. However, it's what you have to deal with so maybe we can give you the support you need on this site. For one thing you are not alone and we understand better than most what you are experiencing . Therapy can take awhile, mine was a year and a half. I was seeing progress all that time with a few setbacks . when you get a setback you have to dig in that much harder but it is normal to have them so don't be discouraged. Also tell your Doctor what's going on. You can't give him half truths and expect a full recovery. He won't judge you, but if he would happen to then you need another Doctor. Maybe He could talk to one family member and encourage that person to be your advocate with the rest of the family. You should have your burdens lessened not added to. So make an appt. and take your most understanding person with you.. Tell them you have to have a helper along with you and your Doctor will explain it. Make sure to get your Dr.s cooperation before hand. Does this sound like something you could do? Pam, who likes to help

Hello Elizabeth

Many people seem to cut when they seek attention. Are you still at School or College etc. To know the reasons why you are feeling the way you do you can start to address your concerns and move on. Your Health Professionals should be addressing your concerns and give you coping techniques so you will address your own pain and move on to a blue sky situation where you can address your pain in a more natural way so you can become stronger in yourself and handle the reasons why you cut ??

What problems make you feel the way you do ???

Hi. I recently posted about my personal experience with self harm and had many helpful responses...I'm not sure if you can find it by clicking on my name above??

After speaking to my CPN about self harm which took me ages to admit to she suggested using ice on the crease your elbow makes when you bend it (hope that makes sense) apparantly this area is very sensitive with lots of nerves so will cause the physical pain without causing damage or scarring, obviously this isn't a long term solution as we need to get to the bottom of why we 'need' this release but it may help in the meantime, I am yet to try this but will definitely try to remember to give it a go next time I feel the need.

I have seen counsellors and taken medication and to be honest found both little help but since being referred to my local mental health team I am finding them so much help, they have the time and tools to really help. It's a slow journey but I feel I'm making progress...is something that you could look into?

Hi Hun, well done for taking the step to telling us, that took courage. Have you tried a elastic band around your wrist, so when you get the urge to cut, your start flicking the band on your wrist so its causes pain but not as much as cutting and it doesnt leave scars. It helped me through some hard times. Please dont be so hard on yourself we all have relapse's and your strong enough to get back up because you have been strong enough for 6 months so you know you can do this. Its just a bump in the road so you know your get over it. Why dont you talk to your counsellor and make a plan to try and get back on track and discuss about the best way to tell your family, Do you want to tell your family? I wish you well Hugs xx
