your very welcome i hope it works take care bigalan

Try turning on the radio to your favourite station the instant you open your eyes. So instead of focussing on your inward thoughts, you're listening to music or cheerful chatter. Then get up.

Thank you really appreciate you taking the time to reply x

Well on a purely practical note you will have to get up eventually to use the toilet and to eat! Apart from that I found bribing myself works well ie I can have a coffee, something nice to eat, go online, have a ciggie and so on. Just concentrate on 1 thing at a time ie don't think ahead to the whole day, just think the next 5 minutes. x

Try to replace the thoughts with something you enjoy. Or something you are planning to do. It is not easy I know but gradually the good thoughts will take over. I have been there. Can't remember what I was scared of. It gradually went. All the best. X

Hi when I have a bout of depression the mornings are always the worst so I try and get out of bed because if I stay in bed awake I will ruminate. I am lucky my daughter lives round corner so I go round and help with her 4 young children and give the twins who are nearly 2 their breakfast. It does help. When I am poorly I hate making phone calls even a hairdressers appointment fills me with fear. Thank God for texting and e mailing. Anti depressants help a lot and tell your friends and family as nothing to be ashamed about it is an illness like diabetes. If you feel really bad go on Utube and listen to tapes of relaxation, meditation or mindfulness because they are free and really calm your mind down. Take care n say " It will pass " from Lin x

Hi Lin , yes I agree with you and you have great strength to get up and go to your daughters everyday but the seeing the children gives you that drive to do it, I haven't got anything to get up for that's when both the depression/ anxiety kick in the depression of not wanting to get up and the anxiety of I can't cope and live like this, I really am frightened I'm never getting over/ out of this its crippling me daily

Honey I can resinate with every word of that. I think if we believe in one another a day at a time our inner strength will out.

Hi Sandra it's the most awful feeling and maybe you need stronger anti depressants please go and see Doctor and tell him how you feel. Personally talking therapies like CBT have never helped me but everyone is different. Try and go for a walk preferably with a friend, a little bit at a time. We have all been through what you are going through. I live between Liverpool and Manchester and if you lived near I would meet and go for a walk and chat. Take care Lin xx
