Can an elderly person with recent pacemaker implant have regular electric scaling and polishing done?

It depends on the type of pacemaker with most newer ones using an ultrasonic scaler may be ok, but your consultant will be able to tell you the type you have and to advise if ultrasonic scaler can be used.

Thank you Ajh. I've heard that too but after doing a check on the net and hearing from some others on the other dental forum, we're going to see a geriatric dental specialist for a second opinion. We did check with the cardio and he had said ok to go ahead but there was something off in the way he replied, hence the second opinion.
