Unilateral deafness

I would like to know how the government in your country considers the unilateral deafness . is it considered a disability or not.. I live in Brazil, and here, a person with unilateral deafness is not considered disabled, including for social assistance.

I would like to hear from you.

Thanks for your attention.

I am not sure but I think only profound hearing loss qualifies for any disability benefit in the uk? If like me deafness is moderate or severe then free testing, hearing aids and batteries are available - oh and you can get a railcard for 1/3 off fares for you and one other person - so I would think that unilateral deafness wouldn't qualify for any social assistance here.

Dear Denise, my left deafness was probably from stroke, and it turned my world upside down. I had so many things wrong I qualified for disability, but I don’t know if it would have on its own. It is, in my opinion, a quite disabling state, when you go stone deaf traumatically. I rarely listen to music or socialize. It’s very difficult. Here where I live it seems one has to fight for everything, even though it’s been proven single sided deafness can lower your quality of life substantially and make us more isolated. Best of luck to you where you live.
