Aren't they GREAT!?!

My hearing loss is familial and age related (DJing about 16 years ago didn't help, mind). I have ones with corda, not a mould.

The biggest thing I needed to adjust to was the slight delay in the sound being processed through the aid compared with my hearing picking up the rest of sounds I can still hear. I like not wearing them now and again so I get a thrill when I put them in again.

I'm bald but don't wear hats. I just don't care. I'm amazed how most people don't even notice them.

Good luck with them!

I worried constantly when I got mine that everyone could see them, but really, most don't notice. By the time summer comes hopefully your worries will have faded, you'll be hearing much better and be more confident about them. It does take a little time to get used to :0)

Hey, Hey, Hey, what a beautiful day, is it time to put your hats away! Happy to hear the aids are working for you, can they been turn't down?

Hearing aids don't work for me as I'm too Deaf, I have both BTE and ITE Aids so I use the BTE aids and bling them up with diamanties and pictures so that they can't be missed. I use them as a 'Visual' Aid for the many hearing people who assume me rude having presumably said 'excuse me' or whatever from behind me making it impossible to lip read them obviously. One day a man got hold of me by my shoulders and physically moved me OUT of my check out queue in the supermarket! After that It was WAR! My current BTE hearing aids are my 'Betty Boop' ones. I wear my hair up in a bun anyway as it's long and so my 'flashy' and 'blinged up' Aids are clear for all to see and NOW if they're rude and move to the front of me saying obscenities to my face I bite back! Big time! In this world some people can see well, Some can't, Some people can Hear well, Some can't, Some people can walk well and some can't and NO-ONE should feel embarrassed or ashamed of the person they are and Deaf is a part of me. :-)

Good for you girl

Well said!...... Many people have a disability but ignorance and rudeness isn't one! ( How can Betty Boop be missed) Didn't know they can be blinged.

If you're creative they can be anything you want to design on them :-)

Hi, I haven't worn them ( privately I'd get hearing aids, but NHS won't fund them and I can't afford to buy some!)

I've thought a lot about the emotional side of wearing them ( and the potential amazing joy of hearing 'everything' again)

And I must say I'm not sure how I would take to it.... it's a big step and I'm sure with confidence and time they will become a normal part of you and hiding them won't be such an issue.

Can I ask how old you are?

X

Hi Abu, was you referring to me when asking about age?

The amazing potential, yes. Not being able to afford is ashame, I hope one day you will be able to.
