This is talk that recounts the history of his interventions that improved his symptoms by 80% and stopped his Parkinson's progression for the past seven years and counting. It also discusses the paper that he wrote with his three coauthors.

Healthy mitochondria must be the reason High Dose Thiamine (HDT) works. Should I exercise before B1 or after?

To be honest, my eyes glaze over when I try to follow this and is it even necessary?

Plus , I question how reproduceable his results are.

Marc, the evidence is mounting that the use of Ketones, both Endogenous (generated by diet) and Exogenous (Ketone Esters) may be an important resource for the treatment of a variety of conditions, including PD, AD, & Diabetes, just to name a few. I’m reading a book that provides a great overview on the subject: “Ketones: the Fourth Fuel” by Travis Christofferson. Available through Amazon and Audible.

Thanks John.

I'll try keytone esters.

I got it today. Taste terrible.

I dilute the 5ml capful with water 2:1 in a shot glass and gulp it down. Not too bad. I take my dose in late afternoon before dinner, with the idea that the effects might last until sleep time. I haven’t noticed much yet. I’ve just started thinking about ways of tracking any differences in cognitive functioning. Will be in touch- JG

thanks John.

No sleep issues?

I am not yet to order the esters.

Have you tried it with coffee? Maybe it's palatable.,..

Good idea. I didn't sleep at all last night and thought it might be the esters, so I'm not going to take anymore today.

I take 5ml in my morning coffee, masks the taste nicely 😋

Is there really any benefit to taking keytone esters while not on keytone diet.

I am not an expert on this subject. I am gathering information. One resource I am finding useful is Charliefoundation.org

I would assume that esters will be converted to ketones irrespective of the diet because of the method of action in the body.

We always seem to end up back at gut microbiome manipulation and the things that seem to do the best at it, also seem to work the best at manipulating the gut microbiome, but also reduce the underlying health condition.

A relevant study quote :

' Human stool samples collected after consumption of the control diet or KD were transplanted into germ-free mice. Mice colonized with microbes from the KD condition exhibited reduced intestinal Th17 levels compared to colonized controls. When the mice were supplemented with Bifidobacterium adolescentis, levels of intestinal Th17 cells increased to those seen in the colonized controls. Consistent with this, mice fed the KD or treated with ketone esters, which decreased bifidobacteria, also had decreased levels of small intestinal Th17 cells. Altogether, the findings from Ang and colleagues reveal that the KD reduces bifidobacteria in humans and in mice and that this may be mediated, at least in part, by ketone bodies. Their results further suggest that the diet-induced reductions in bifidobacteria lead to decreased levels of Th17 cells. Exactly how bifidobacteria exert these effects on the immune system remains unclear, but the findings raise the interesting possibility that some effects of the KD could be mediated by microbiome-dependent alterations in immune homeostasis. '

I just happen to think that FMT is better at it and simpler.

Interestingly, B1 is also an inhibitor of TH-17.

Good article, thanks Art.. I agree, it all seems to begin and end in the gut. But am I understanding your comment to mean that a fecal transplantation procedure is simpler and better than taking a Ketone Ester?

Just opinion on my part. I think that FMT has shown as good to significantly better than various diets and it generally shows results quicker which makes it easier to recognize results/improvements.

Similarly to B1, people who respond quickly seem to notice those improvements quicker and better than those who have taken 4 months or longer to respond. That was a major reason why Dr. Costantini required the videos to help people easily recognize improvements in their symptoms. I also think this is why some people may have stopped using B1 prematurely even though B1 may actually have been helping them. The videos didn't lie, but if you didn't take them and you got slow results, you may have stopped B1. Similarly, if the diet results are too slow, are not super noticeable, the diets may have many people stop prematurely.

I think the various diets are useful to help maintain the positive effects of FMT and potentially expand on them, but may have a tough job in fighting an existing perturbed microbiome as seen in PD. I think the FMT capsules will be the simplest, easiest, safest and quickest way to help maintain the initial FMT benefits and should make for easy compliance for maintaining FMT effects.

Newer FMT studies seem to be incorporating the "antibiotic sanitize" method of two or three highly potent antibiotics given prior to the actual FMT and stopped two days before the actual FMT, to essentially wipe out the existing gut microbiome, both good and bad bacteria, allowing the FMT to have a "clean slate" to get off to a very good and powerful start and not have to get into a battle with the existing gut microbiome for dominance of the gut microbiome. The antibiotics essentially eliminate the obstacle of the current unhealthy PD microbiome. I believe this makes for a better FMT experience.

I also believe that the various diets will have a hard time eradicating and dominating the entrenched existing gut microbiome and because the diets tend to work significantly slower than FMT, the clean slate provided by the "antibiotic sanitize" step may not be a good idea as pathogenic bacteria may get an in road again under those slower circumstances.

As I say, just an opinion.
