I can’t see much without subscribing but found another report on it. Probably sourced from the first one

This is very interesting.

I wonder if anxiety is causing breathing to be different. They think the brain change causes the breathing change. Could the breathing change cause the brain change? Can anxiety be caused by incorrect breathing or can incorrect breathing cause anxiety (which can be an early symptom too)

And does looking at screen all day cause breath holding to cause some of this in sleep. I know I find myself holding my breath when concentrating

.

Great thanks. Gosh, but what happens then if they suddenly find a massive amount of people in their 20s and 30s actually show signs. It would have big implications for them very early on psychologically and they might not be very disabled until much later and might have blissfully carried on for years unaware. Unless they can actually do something to prevent it. Maybe they will find something but at that stage diet and exercise seems the best bet. I suppose it might be enough of a shock to force them to take lifestyle changes which will postpone serious symptoms.

If only everyone took lifestyle seriously 😢

Would you rather have a decades-early indication of what is to come, or be unaware of its progress until such late time that certainly the chance to do something while the disease was still far-prodromal to give any early efforts to change the course a chance?

Or put another way: if you were on a train track and a train was speeding down on you from behind, would you rather know about it before it hit you, or first find out about it by it hitting you?

I really don’t know. I think if I knew years ahead that might me more anxious my whole life. On the other hand if I was a proactive person it might make me more likely to take health a lot more seriously. But maybe youth won’t take any notice. After all they are told to eat properly, don’t smoke or vape or drink too much. Eat properly and sleep well or you might get cancer or heart disease or diabetes but they don’t take a bit of of notice at that age.

If anxiety is one of the causes of PD knowing about it earlier might make it worse?

And placebo effect is strong so if told you will get it could you develop symptoms earlier ?

Yes I know all that, but think about it my friend: at least you would have a choice. I don't want to get to philosophical because I can do that all night long... And and the process go right to angels on a pin or all the way to the origin of the universe and the randomness and arbitrariness of it all in the process... like a philosophical discussion with Hannibal Lecter or Socrates. But at least the idea of having a choice appeals to me. And if you like, you can choose stay on the tracks with your back to the train and let the train hit you. But you also get to choose something else if you desire it...so long as you know you do. And that is the point of all existence... Getting to have a choice. And in that case, what a gift.

And now you have learned the second reason people get Ph.Ds. first is to have the opportunity to extend knowledge. But the second, and what drives me, is the oft-used saying about what the term of what PhD really stands for also... You see, they say B.S. stands for "Bullshit"...and M.S. stands for "More Shit"... and PH.D. stands for "Piled Higher and Deeper." And it is said that the latter are most fun. You decide.
