The concern is control of muscles used for breathing. So, if hospitalized, insist on you PD medications.

My husband was intubated last summer. There are no iv pd meds. After he was removed from intubation, soon as I could convince the doctors he was put on sublingual Sinemet(Parcopa. Loss of swallowing is common when a person is intubated. It took him about 3 days to be able to swallow pills.
Needless to say he went 7 days with no Parkinson's meds while he was intubated. Then he finally got the Parcopa.
